Default FAO pf van drivers re; sprinter 311 cdi

Just wondering how many miles to a tank people are getting from these vans, possibly looking at buying a swb 311 cdi to replace my lt35 2.5 tdi which does 400 miles to a tank of fuel. Obviously would like better fuel mileage, but just wondering if the cdi engine is any good.

if you are looking at the newer ones, the 313's are more economical than the 311's

and some come with a lot more kit than others so avoid a poverty spec one if you can

ours will do wales and back, lwb, with the fridge on all the way there and back and the trip computer reads around the high 20's if you cruise, low 20's if you give it beans

they come with an 80 litre tank and ours will JUST about stretch to 450 miles before the light comes on and there is one digit left on the fuel display

plus they are quicker

You could specify them with a optional bigger tank, around 100 litres if I remember right.

But that's assuming the original owner asked for it when the van was originally spec'd. Finding it second hand is pot luck really.
