There is a Muslim Education Chief on Sky News at the moment that is calling absolute bullshit on people wearking burka's saying they have nothing to do with religion.

The hilarious thing is he described them as ninja's or tents

More tradition than oppression, but the end result is exactly the same. Their religion requires them to be "modestly dressed", but as you say it's not a religious necessity.
