Default 1600cc Fuel Injectors - Rip off britain !!!

Just found a company in the states that specialises in fuel injectors.

1600cc (160 lb/min) to fit straight in to a cossie fuel rail.

$75 Each.

Now the exchange rate is about 1.8 dollars to the pound

So $75 divided by 1.8 = 41.66 each (excluding tax)

I need 4 injectors so £41.66 x 4 = £166.64

So if you include say £20 for delivery and allow 17.5% inport tax (VAT)

( £166.64 + £20 ) + 17.5% = £219.30

Equivalent parts quoted to me today by one Uk dealer was nearly £450 + vat

(Dealer NOT on PassionFord just in case anyone asks)

Just goes to show how much this country is a rip off !!!!

Thanks to all those who tried to help me but I think I will go for the imports !!!

Dont blame you at all

Just out of interest, i bought SIX 1000cc injectors from japan for 450 DELIVERED and they want over 1000pounds in the UK for the type of inj that fits a GTR

Im sure i couldve got some American ones to suit but TBH i was unsure of the sizing to fit

I still havent got a std cossie inj around here so i can compare WHY cossie style ones dont fit a GTR, the plug is different (no big deal), but they both top feed low impedance, but without them side by side i cant remember the differences, i think the SARD style ones nissans etc need are physicly bigger

They dont do the exact ones but I would always recomend original
Bosch standard range injectors for most applications
unless you are going for a complete live map when you can
fit what you like depending on requirements.

Just used the injector selector feature
here ... http://www.injector.com/injectorselection.php

So 4 x 1600 cc injectors with BSFC of 0.5 and 80% duty gives 1000 bhp
(Subject to engine build of course)

pugo, Its not for my car unfortunately. I am happy with my 437 bhp

This YB engine WILL be big power and NOT use NOS though.
Cant say much at present or I will get my wrists slapped.
I am not mapping it but am doing tests on my ECU system to see if
1600 cc injectors will work ok.

When it is dynoed, I will post the specs and dyno cell graphs

Custom's tax is 6% to add too.

However, get the person to wrap it up as a present, no tax payable LOL....

Oli's parents go over quite a bit, so will be getting some injectors that way

Buying stuff from America is brilliant at the moment.

I race model nitro cars, for a top level 12cu engine in this country you can pay £150 notes. Buy it from America, by the time it gets back here, the same engine including duty is £70! Brilliant! I think we do get ripped off over here :-(. A complete kit is £400 in this country, £220 odd imported into this country including duty!

Obviously the strong pound helps, but still?!

Bosch used to do a lovely 750cc injector the same ohms as a 803...plus a 1200cc and a 1600cc...The biggest avalible now is a 1200cc but its a gas injector Biggest easily avalible is the Grey by all accounts.

I know someone who bought and used the gas fuel injectors on petrol.
It worked lovely for 2 weeks then melted the engine as the petrol ate away
the internal workings and partly blocked it !!!

They do work well as air injectors though

i shipped some 1600cc injectors in and they worked out about £245, obviously we need to make money to as we're a business. 1000cc msn injectors work out around £300 all in for 4, very good injector too.

Simon are these the actual injector as that is the 76 or 96lb Rochester/Delpi and not the Bosch ones

madevelopments,
That is the correct picture (I took it from their website)

I thought they were exactly like the bosch ones but this is what I got instead.

They do fit a standard fuel rail although the injector clips dont fit properly !!!
(Will make up some spacers to prevent them falling out of the rail)

cossiedave,
Yes they look exactly like your 6 port spray 1000cc types Dave !!!

Doug Stirling,
The 1000cc's are $10 each cheaper !!

Simon I use these Injectors, I would check the flow rate to be safe, then you know they are right and that they have sent you the right ones, As I only know Bosch make 1600cc not Rochester or Delpi and that what those are.
