they will be 550cc injectors on a 2002 sti

 

Depending on Fuel Pressure thats dialled in, I think that 550cc start to get close to their limit once things go above 400bhp on the Imprezas I've seen... although I seem to remember AndyF made c440bhp on his old TypeRA using 550cc injectors, back in the day.

......my pals had his car mapped and the bloke said the injectors are maxed.......it made about 350bhp a couple of month ago but wasn't "right",now he says it feels alot better

 

on the STI 7/8 we uded to take them to around the 380bhp mark on stock injectors, turbo & cooler, that was keeping them safe without maxxing the injectors.

 

That doesn't sound right does it, my sister has a classic wrx with 440's in it and they are maxed out at 345bhp I would expect 550's to be maxed out closer to 400bhp on a sti 7. Who mapped it?

 

....no u've read/i've wrote it wrong.......i ment it was about 350bhp.....now it's been mapped and the bloke said the injectors are NOW maxed..........

565cc pinks will easily handle 400bhp, but will also manage 450 at standard fuel pressure. Although I guess that also depends which rolling road or pub dyno you use.


The pump will need upgraded for any power increases over standard though, as they are crap. SO if this hasnt been done....you can easily appear to max the injectors, simply because the fuel pump cant keep up.


You can Ecutek it, or use the free Opensource for tuning the OE ecu

 

if i was told that my injectors or pump were close to thier max, i think id get something done.
I would say theres possibly 2 kinds of "maxed" here, maxed and wouldnt want them to be put under any more load, then theres "maxed" ie:cant take anymore and need bigger injectors full stop.
Either which way id rather have a HP fuel pump and/or bigger injectors
I also think 380bhp is safe with 400bhp pushed.
