Hi all I'm trying to find my engine number on my yb it's a 205 block, there seems to be 2/3 sets of numbers.
Also is there any way of finding out the year of the engine?

The engine number is on the front of the block above the water pump, will start most likely with JK, not all cossie blocks were 2222, printed next to the dizzy clamp, some were 3's, mine is 3233.
I can't help with the year as some 2wd sapphy fitted with 3 door engines from the RS500, ie original 3 door engines later used by ford on the sapphy 2wd.

Thanks but mine is a ybb number at the front of the block, there is a kj number on the side of the block under exhaust manifold i've been told that this is the engine number.

 

There were top my knowledge two numbers on each yb block, I thought the front one was the actual number, haven't really paid much attention tbh, most likely one was ford number and one a cosworth number, usually ford do stamp on sides of blocks.

the engine number on a yb is on the block on the left hand side at the back about 3 inches up and about 4 inches in and it allways matches the last 6 numbers of the cars chasis number
