Default Transporting a 3dr tailgate

Quick question, but will a 3dr tailgate with no spoiler fit in the back of an mk4 astra hatchback with the seats folded down?

Dont really wanna drive all the way there to find out it dont fit

i have had a 3dr bonnet in a mk3 fiesta before

I know it's not the same but might give a better idea.
I managed to get a sapphy bonnet in the back of a mk3 astra hatch(just), I'm sure the sapphy bonnet is larger than 3 door hatch and the mk4 astra hatch bigger than mk3 astra hatch.

dont want to use a courier as it will get damaged - i used to work at a courier company so have seen what goes on in their warehouses and what happens to parcels marked as fragile

plus i will make it there and back on less than 16 quid of bio

I thought it might be a bit tight as the shape of the tailgate may pose issues whereas a bonnet is rather flat so fairly easy to get in the car

I can use a mates van but he aint insured it otherwise i would have used it as i can drive other cars 3rd party.

hhhmmm - i might have to persuade him to drive it ?

Has anyone ever transported a tailgate in the back of their car?

i could just about fit a saph bonnet into my sierra estate so even thoguh it may "measure" up right, the odd bits and bobs that poke out might not make it fit so well

thats what im thinking dojj - i have fitted a 3dr bonnet in a mk3 fiesta and that was a tight squeeze but the the shape of a tailgate will make it more difficult i reckon.

Be careful with driving van's thinking your insured on a car policy. My mate told me to check my policy as i wanted a loan of his van and to my suprise they told me the third party cover i had didn't cover van's as there comercial vehicles

I ended up using RAC dayinsure to cover me cost £25 for the day but it was cheap for piece of mind and defo cheaper than a fine lol

Maybe you'd be better considering this kind of option depending on the distance as it might work out cheaper to just go in a van and be positive it would fit
