My Vauxhall Corsa LET

Your guess is as good as mine Chip. On the compressor housing it says T04E then right underneath that it says T3/T4.
Has a few issues like lack of cold engine enrichment and the speed and rev counter dont work but will all be sorted in good time

Looks like fun! As chip sais get the map checked just incase, last thing you want to do is melt it.
oh and get that filter moved somewhere it's not sucking in hot air!

If the big black intercooler in the front isn't a clue I dont know what is
The point of the intercooler is to cool charge temps as much as possible yea?
So lets say the intercooler has 50% efficiency for talking sake.
and also for talking sake the setup he has the filter sucks in 60 degree temp behind the rad/under the ex mani, the turbo heats it up further 40 degree's to 100 degree's and then the IC cools it back to 50 degrees (all for talking sake)
now lets say he moved the filter to a better location, it now sucks in ambient air temp at 20degrees, turbo heats it up 40 degrees to make it 60 degrees, and the IC cools that to 30 degrees as it's 50% efficient....thats lowered air temp by (remember for talking sake) 30 degrees, 20 degree's lower than the previous cone on turbo behind rad/under ex mani setup....lower inlet temps = more power......make sense??

The theory is spot on, but on his car, for all he could move it, I really doubt he'd manage a 20deg difference.

For instance, I do know that on the wedge shape civic typeR's, the pre facelift model made 11bhp less just because the air intake was behind the rad, the facelift had a small plastic extension that took the cold air feed from infront of the rad and therefore the facelift models made ~11bhp more.
I dont know about 20 degree's, like I said those figures were for talking sake

Car looks stunning mate,I really fancy something small and quick before I emigrate but I've got 13cars
only from my own personal experience but when I had an astra gsi I put a cone filter on it which sounded nice but sapped the power which is a bit of a trait with vauxhalls iirc.hope that helps and try and keep it on the road!!!!!

Iv already aranged for it to go to somebody I trust to get this sorted. Its not getting used till September so plenty of time.
I dont think it has one, but it seems to hook up ok. Have PMd steveboyslim about whats available already though.
ps, does your mate Pete still have that Nova. Keep watching the vids of it on youtube down the dual carriageways
Its on Omex 600. Definetly going to make some small changes like move the filter, its just trying to make space in the bay on the OS to make it fit.
Dont mention those red roads, put the Fiesta in my sig into a bush thanks to them back when I was young and very stupid for me. You going to Dobbies in Southport tomorrow night? Ill probs be there but either in the silver corsa above or my mates red corsa gsi
Get some pics up
As said above, both on my to do list. Thanks for the bit of tech info too, much appreciated.
Thanks for all the comments people

Petes Nova has gone on to a better place. We swapped cars, so he took my Corsa B and he chucked a valver in that Nova and I ran it for a bit then sold it. The engine from the Nova was stripped down and rebuilt for way more power. My old shell is pritty much ready to go again.
Think he is at the point where he has realised he needs a new inlet, and in all reality probably a new turbo. Though he seems happy it will flow enough air for 550hp, the rest of the engine is geared up for more power. One of the lads recently managed over 600whp, and he has now decided he wants a head the same as Pete has just made.
Car might be done for this summer. Though he will be wanting Karl Norris to map it again and its not even booked in yet. So looking unlikely.
When you taking yours to the strip?? Be good to meet up and have a nosey round yours

Tim, that sounds a bit bloody mental. Got any pics of your old shell that its all going into?
Not sure about strip tbh, Id like to run it but its not really my thing, im more of a track day kinda guy then drag strip. Will have to sort something out though when its all ready for a meet up.
Chip - Im trying Will take a while but ill get it to how I want. It doesnt need to go any faster, just want to make it more usable and reliable, therefore enjoyable.

When I get home from work I'll put some pics up.
You deffo need an LSD, it will transform the car beyond belief! Then in a month or two you will be wanting more power

Looks like great fun.
Have you thought about the full stealth spec? Black plastic bumpers, no rear spoiler and 15" steelies with odd cheapo wheel trims on them?

When I had the car I only had a standard turbo on it, so the filter came up on the left hand side of the engine.
On the nova which had a manifold simelar to yours he just had the filter coming out of the front bumper, with a 90 degree bendstright off the turbo and out of the front. Despite our reservations, especially in the rain, it never caused a problem. Again I'll post a picture of that too

Im not willing to have an airfilter coming out of the bumper, thats just OTT
Looking at my pics going to have to do something with the top rad hose I think to make space. Could do with a hose kit anyway as they all look manky and are mis-matched

AquariousRS - I doubt it mate, my company car is a Citroen C1 at the moment so wouldnt want to get laughed out of town, when my Saph is back on the road (bodywork issues to deal with) then I will pop down and meet up.
I spun my old Escort on a red roundabout running late for work about 3 years ago, how I never hit anything is beyond me.
Did your mate buy his Corsa GSI from John Eccles who works at Vauxhall in Ormskirk? If so thats a fast motor, I used to work with John a while back.
