My BMW got scuffed again twice in supermarket car parks a few months ago. I only work part time at the moment as I look after my daughter too, so I was parking in parent a child spaces. People now seem to think its ok to damage somes one elses property if they don't get caught! Last time it cost me £400 to get it fixed, on 2 accasions whe non my own when I have parked accross 2 spaces to stop this happening again I have been told not to by the car parking attendant, who also told me he would not be responsible for another dent in my car if I left it there... You can't win

I've had my car scratched & paint strippered. Don't live in a great area but not anywhere properly rough.

no idea who or why someone did it, but suspect having a highly polished and always clean black car catches peoples eye. I bet green and orange focus owners have similar problems as people notice these cars more.

In supermarkets i am very carful where i park, usually up the top end of the car park (furthest from the shop) theres a few nice cars parked up there avoiding all the shit cars/carless people nearest the door.

Also parking on the end of a row of places, atleast halves the chance of getting the car dinged.

& as for the guy throwing pennies, i always have a selection of "tools" in the back of the car... I know what you are saying about causing a confrontation with potentially some nutjob, but whats the alternative, having some cunt in a piece of shit throwing coins at my ten grand car, nah don't think so buddy..

I've been fortunate so far with my car, there's a few hair line scratches on the back and front where people brush by with their zips etc at college.
My car is nothing special, just super condition for it's age. But people don't seem to see things the same way as us enthusiasts do

Even after I had my operation, I struggled to get in and out of my car, but made dam sure my door was no where near the car next to me, regardless of it making me uncomfortable!

I've given up on trying to avoid the car park dents now, its inevitable, black car, tiny dents and scratches stand out a mile away. When my little boy gets in and out of the car, I generally stand between his door and the car parked next to us, and 9 times out of 10, end up with a door in the bollocks, but rather that than damage someones car. But, should we have seen the person parked next to us hit the car, I take the attitude of an eye for an eye. Likewise, those who park so close its nigh on impossible to open your door and get in.

I bought a new car on the Saturday and on the monday i came out of work and someone had wanged the passenger rear door left a 3 inch vertical line right on the top of it where the edge of there door had gone into mine and a lovely white scuff.. had my black ST170 banged and scratched a few times, i guess cause it was highly polished, whenever ive had old runabouts ive never had them keyed or dinged.

If im parking between two cars, if one of the cars drivers door is facing my car, and the other cars isnt, i try parking a little closer to the cars that isnt, because its more likely you will get hit by the drivers door as not every car has passengers.

Im kind of lucky as to where i live near i know the security guys who run the Asda and Retail area carparks, there is a patch of pavement in the far corner with no cars and 3 hedges around it, i park there and get away with it, much to the confusion and frustration of others, but i guess someone will do something to it soon!

I wonder if the OP still has a car to take to the supermarket after ignoring all the good advice he was given when buying his current car.

......but with the immortal parting statement of 'fuck it, I know where they live', then I suppose everything will have worked out just dandy.

Cheers,
Grant

I hardly ever take my saph to tesco's as I normally used my battered mk2 mondy as I couldn't have cared less about that but I wasn't about to go home, get the mondy and go back!! Anyway, I parked up right on the other side of the car park which was reasonably empty to avoid car park dings as I'd just had it painted. As I was farting about taking the stereo front off etc, a woman in a new E class mercedes parked next to me (of all the empty spaces around me she chooses the one next to mine!!), next thing I know, WHACK!!! She throws the door with quite a bit of force straight into my passenger front door!
I got out and asked what the fuck she was playing at and she just gave me a blank stare! I looked at my door and there was a fucking great dent in it!!!

I started having a rant and asked what she was going to do about it. She just turned round and said to me "I don't understand why you're bothered, it's only an old car" and walked off!!! Fucking bitch!!!

I have a really short temper (as anyone who really knows me will testify!! Lol!), and after she said that to me, the red mist descended and I ended kicking the fuck out of her drivers door! Not big and not clever but I was fuming and what's good for one is good for another!

I bet she wouldn't do it again though!! Lol!
kicked fuck out of her door? id have punched her. only on trhe nose once, but enough for the bitch to remember her errors. slashed tyres would have helped jog her memory next time round.
