bronze or steel valve guides???
Im about to remove the YB engine out of the cossie to refurb it and was wondering if bronze valve guides are better or worse than steel ones???
the more research i do, the more contradicting views i get!!!!
does anyone out there know????

i had bronze ones put in mine, no reason, the machining company simply said i needed new ones and they got put in, probably doesnt help but thats my experience. is it maybe that the steel valves will wear out the bronze guides and therefore the guides need replacing rather than the valves? seein as the guides are much cheaaper than valves?

20K+ Super Poster.
Bronze is much better, not the best by any means, but much better than the steel ones which are usually crushed particle guides.
The best is COLSHIBO, very pricey, but for a reason, bought as blanks every ones needs machining to fit, that's what I have got.

If u use car every day your better off with std ones. If you abuse car for racing and track days your better off with bronze . I spoke to several cylinder head companys and they told me to stick with std cut back guides and ported head for better flow hope this helps
