Default Coding remote key '99 Passat

Got a mate stuck in a bind. His remote key has dropped it's memory and no longer locks the car, problem is he's just found out he can't lock with the key.

Is there a key turn sequence to get the remote paired back to the car?

Sadly not. Sharans did. But not Passats.

Saying that if turning the key in the door lock is having no effect would suggest the door lock is buggered anyway. Advise him to try new batteries in the remote. Might be lucky.

Can you lock the car via the lock in the boot? I know with a few cars you can.
