i would just use it as it is if theres any power already in it, then before it reaches empty turn off the phone and give it a full charge, then use as normal, thats what ive always done and all of my phones have been fine

That reply shows just how uninformed you are
Doesnt matter mate, just use it how the battery came, and then when its low give it a full charge, even if it does only take 1hr 30mins, thats still a full charge.
Just use it as normal then, should be fine
Some people say charge new batterys overnight but thats totally pointless, after 1and a half hours it will be FULLY charged and turn off the currant going to the battery, so leaving it the rest of the night does nothing

Very strange, i never had that problem with my old n95 8gb. It could last about 2 days with light use.
Not alot you can do if you have a new battery already.

Turn off the browse for wireless networks if you havent already. My N95 (not 8Gig) would last for nearly a week on standby with no use, would last a day when being used.

Coming from the idiot who asked how many millimetres there were in a metre?
Lord help us. I should have known being such a quiet and unassuming N95 owner you might possibly get shirty if someone didn't bow down and praise the component parts of God himself's company, Nokia.

The reply showed how you knew nothing about said subject, so why bother even posting.
End of discussion

anyways, the battery dropped three lines since 11 this morning, I dont think its a good sign!! I just played music for ten minutes and took 3 photos. will go on pc suite to see the firmware.
And now I think I am going with vodafone? do these have different firmware or something?

ok then had you read and understood that link on google you would probably understand WHY your phone is so poor at retainign battery.
have you actually followed the instructions or not?
i would suspect you have the same problem as most 3G phones on the market, that when set to automatically sitch between 2g/3g in a signal with low 3g coverage you are finding the batteruy drain sooner than expected, this is due to the large power required to do this. set it to 2G only (which despite you earlier comment you can do and if you read the google post youd see how to do it) and youll probably find the battery life increase significantly.
is that a better response?
ps 2G will be the GPRS/EDGE setting (3g is UMTS/HSDPA/HSUDPA)

At the end of the day i dont think you will ever get a decent amount of battery with that phone, its getting pretty old now. I know the battery is new but the phone is still old.
Just try and following those tips to try and squeeze out any extra power you can

I am with melita mobile ( a company ) and they only transmit 3G, you can turn it off, but then u get no reception. get it??
I now tried a different sim card (different company) that can enable me to turn off the 3g, which I did.
Yeah but i dout it will do anything for battery life.

and can a ribbon change effect this?

I actually had a N95 up until about a year and a half ago. Battery life on it was always terrible, so much so that I always made sure I had a spare, fully charged battery anywhere I went. It is also the first phone I actually had to buy a car charger for. Furthermore I had to charge the phone every single night - it wouldn't last for two days running.
Again, N95's are well known for having very poor battery life, especially if you start using any of the features they have. Considering it is only a 900 mAh battery on what is quite a power hungry device, it's hardly surprising battery life is so limited. You can actually get extended batteries which iirc are rated at 1400mAh.
As for what the OP originally asked, charging the phone is easy; you put the battery in the phone and plug the charger in. If it's not charging at a reasonable rate there is clearly something wrong, there are only really three possibilities there.
The best advice that can be given is to get rid of the N95 and replace it with something vastly superior such as practically any device made by HTC.
Any further moronic ad-hoc reckon you might like to furnish me with?

Sarcasm is best placed to defend one's intelligence when said individual is able to spell simple words like "you're". Until then it only serves to provide amusement for those with an IQ in triple figures.
