People are flying the flag to show their support for the england football team not to just be patriotic, theres a world cup on you know and england are in it!!
At least us footie fans aint as fucked up as the english twats who will support the english hater murray at wimbledon and i would have thought tennis fans are from the more educated middle class!!

reasons like -
Spending money on bettering your local community would be patriotic. Joining the armed forces to protect the country would be patriotic. Giving more money to the government to clear some of the national debt would be patriotic.
Hoisting Ł3 worth of Chinese made shit up on your car or house is NOT patriotic, it's a visual "UG" of cavemen who want to show they're from the same tribe.

football is full of over paid fucking arseholes, 30k a week its bollocks that money should go to useful things like creating new jobs, the nhs, getting rid of poverty etc etc
cant think of many people who would actually disagree with that

They claim to play for the love of football, then why do they refuse to play for free when their clubs are struggling.

not a little bit overkill dont you think??
a single good sized flag could be described as patriotic in the same way the yanks all have ONE american flag on most the houses out there.
any more does look chav
if your going to do a proper flag pole then remember to do the ceremony of morning colours and evening sunset
When i have my castle, I will have one union flag on a flagpole

Totally agree with Paddy too. It does not mean you are not patriotic if you dont have two shit flags on your car or 100 plastered on your house. 1 would be fine, and there are also a LOT more patrotic things to be done for your country.
i would say i bet half the fookers with a load of flags would be on benefit and scrouging of the country which is not patrotic! But then that would be a terrible assumption.

The above i also agree with. I HATE this thing like football aid. Why dont all the footballers sub a months wage to the aid campain? instead of asking us folk on standard wages to fork out. CUNTS!

Many of us around the country fly a flag to show support for the England football team, not as a sign of our phony patriotism.
The majority of those above who have said flying England flags is a pikey thing to do etc arn't football fans, if you yourself are a football fan then please explain to me how it's any different to flying your favourite team flag or having a sticker in your car window during season time?

It's not about supporting England because your English that's the whole point.

What annoys me most of all is when you get people saying they fly the flag because they "Love their country", well if they love England, why only fly the flag during world cups etc?
BTW hoping England wins it again, is possible

I think that goes for driving any car and thinking driving said car makes you cool. Anyone who thinks a car makes them cool is blatently homo/CHAV and the cooler you try to be the more of an insecure idiot you look
People should drive a car because they like it and not give a shit what any other cunt thinks about it. Well thats my opinion anyway.
People needing a car or some other "fashion item" to feel good about themselves or to seek approval of others just shows thier own insecurity and lack of self confidence

But the money comes from the football fans - not from the Government. You can hardly expect all proceeds of footy matches/merchandise to go to the NHS and poor people etc. It's a business!

And no, you don't have to always identify yourself as a fan of your team, it's always a choice never a chore.
I personally believe that if flying the English flag outside of sporting events wasn't frowned upon by so many as it is today then alot more people would have one on show.
Loving your country and the land beneath your feet makes you a patriot, serving in the armed forces or doanting to the government does not IMO.
The most sense you've said all afternoon!

This is what I tell all my anti-football friends.
If you think of all the tax that's generated through football aswell from players wages, to merchandise and sponsorship deals it's unreal.
If we didn't have one of the best leagues in the world we'd be alot worse off then we are now.
John Arne Risse's payslip was in the Sun newspaper a few years ago, he paid more tax and national insurance in 4 weeks than most of us pay in 5 years.

I think its because its the only time the english can get away with flying the flag and showing some patriotism, usually it would be classed as politically incorrect, or racist to the non english in the country
i dont see what the big deal is, amercans do this on a permanant basis, fly the star spangled banner on there cars and houses, well, the racist rednecks anyway

So lets get this straight, theres a major sporting event on soon, England are there and there are people showing flags in various forms not just in support but because they are really looking forward to it, really excited and yet some are moaning about this?
Fuck me, of all the things we moan, cry and bitch about in this country finally there is something positive, people are happy and yet still theres some muppets moaning.
Get a life I say or just ignore it if you don't like football. The rest are just bitter Scottish, Welsh etc upset because they're left out again. Personally I don't care what you big babies say, I'm English and I'm going to enjoy it. Stew on my 2 pence if you wish though.
P.S I don't have one of those silly window hang flags as they look daft (but anything in someones car window would be fine by me), I don't even hang one on the house but stuff it, I'm going to have one up now on the 12th, why not. Its every 4 years (or 2 if lucky) get a grip.

My 2 kids 8 and 6 are really looking forward to the world cup and wanted flags on our car so i obliged, if it makes me look pikey do you think i care as long as my kids are happy, i wear england shirts all year round as do my kids, nothing wrong in supporting your national team and god theres some right miserable fucks on here.
Wait till the budget in less than two weeks then you will really have something meaningfull to moan about.

what use are footballers when the goverment cuts money to the nhs and they cant afford to keep all the staff they have nevermind the staff and equipment they badly need just now, but as usual the rich are going to get richer and the poor are going to get poorer, this country's fucked and as soon as i can up sticks and leave i will do

If you compare the amount of top level footballers be it Premier, CL or World cup level who use this forum to the amount of doctors, nurses, police, firemen, teachers, then I think that says it all. If 'kicking a ball around' was that easy we'd all be doing it but its not, you have to start ideally before the age of 10, not 18-20+ like Uni etc.
You get paid for talent or demand in this country not how respectful you feel the job is or how much you ache at the end of the shift for that matter! What footballers do is VERY technical, like it or not.
Don't think because you're English or say Chinese you have to buy only your own products.
