where to get old school air con charged!
i know its not a ford but i own a 1990 m3 e30 , phoned bmw to have my aircon serviced as i,m off to lemans and its going to be warm. so i give them all my details, reg everything so they say no problem bring it down tomorrow and we,ll do it . so i drop it into sytners and cruise off to mcdonalds and ten mins later they phone me back saying cars ready.
when i get back they tell me that beacuse the cars so old theyre not licenced to use the oppropriate gas so they cant do it!
i gave them the reg so they knew how old it was, anyways i,m assuming sierra cosworths of the same year etc use the same gas so where do you boys have your aircon serviced?
ps i,m in the west mids cheers all

you can't get the 'oppropriate' refrigerant, R12, anymore. you will need a specialist to change the oil and some other bits and bobs to convert it to R134a. others may try and persuade you to put in a so called 'drop in, compatible' refrigerant, but i wouldn't.
speak to the guys at www.compressortech.co.uk as they ar elocal to yo, and see who they would recommend.

I would go for a drop in replacment myself or consider modification to run R134a.
However if the car isnt used often etc surely the drop in would be more cost affective...

If you can find someone with R12 I certain they would charge a hefty premium for it even in the little amount required for a car.
