NOT HAPPY so off to Dynotech at Belper KEV great chap we should all know the pedigree of DYNO DYNAMICS equipment well after the fuel test seemed ok found that its power output was only 127.7ps OMG £1700 for 7 ps NOT happy so now at war with ford UK . HAVE YOU HAD THIS PROBLEM OR NOT EVEN HAD YOUrs TESTED OR CAN YOU GIVE ME HELP Its going to Northampton motorsport on Monday so i can really kick BUTT

How many miles has the car done?

Could it be that the engine is still a little tight and needs a few more miles on it loosen up a bit maybe?

Spoke to this gent on the phone yesterday. Ford have suggested it may be because it's new, and want him to wait 6000 miles.

The dyno operator has effectively told him that Mountune couldn't possibly get this much power without raising the rev limit, and the operator (for some bizarre reason) can't understand why Mountune won't show him their calibration files.

I advised he get it dyno'd elsewhere before taking the car back to Ford.

Didn't autocar dyno a new rs and got 270-ish bhp before it was broke it?

The earlier RSs didn't make the power - but Ford released a 'cal' to fix it, and so they're now around the 300 mark.

i dont understand where you are going to get with this.

Is there a document provided with the mountune kit that guarantees 140bhp on a dyno of your choice. (i doubt it)

and when you take the car back after it comes up with 125bhp again what do you hope to achieve?

A new car?
a different mountune kit?

i know you dont appear to have got what you have paid for and yes maybe theres an argument but what do you want them to do?

Provide the service or goods he has paid for?

If they are unable to do that within a reasonable time frame or in this case milage then they should refund his money and other associated costs - dyno fees etc.

Why didn't you buy an ST.

Im not trying to wind you up as i can understand where you are coming from but do you honestly think you are going to walk into fords with two dyno printouts in youre hand and get youre money back?

Thats why i wonder what you want them to do.

It was a genuine question, Surely its mountune with the problem isnt it?

I may just be getting the complete wrong end of the stick here.

im not saying i would put up with it, im just wondering what your plan is because slagging them off internationally on here is not going to get you anywhere if one of their group see this thread.

because you cant get a new shape fiesta st?, ford sold and supplied the kit advertised as a 140bhp upgrade so the issue lies with them

WITH ALL THE TOYS YEP LOL I have spoke to mountune about this too, they questioned the dyno but when i spoke to the uk top man at dynastics he said he stood by that machine. As it was one of his best in fact, it was there demo one the dogs he said. It went back to Heartslands for a file update but they could not load it so they said. These are my thoughts now ok Mountune can add power but there will be a max with what they do so what if it was no where near 120 standard makin the 140 impossible ? HEARTLANDS FORD service has been so so bad AVOID,

I'd suggest the issue lies with the car rather than the Mountune conversion, and that Heartland's should look into it further.

Suggesting that the conversion can't make the power is a little silly given the hoops that Mountune have to go through to get Ford approval and warranty.

I have agreed that. But was told that ford do not let mountune alter the rev limiter. Also if claiming this why not be happy to prove it lets hope Monday helps. Ford uk have not helped one bit so much for customer care.

Get ford to put it back to std, run it for a while to see if you still have the original "grumbles", in doing so proving if its a mountune problem or ford problem.

Your tuner told you that it is impossible to get more power without raising the rev limit (or at least that's what you told me) but that simply isn't true. I'd forget about the rev limit thing, and, depending on what it makes
on the other rollers, take it up with the garage.

Nothing but good things to say about Northampton Motorsport. Their new roller is top notch!
Get another rolling read out for the process of elimination. if its around the same as DD's then you know your onto something.

There is no way on earth you've driven a "few" Zetec S Fiestas if you think they "never handle well". If you have, then you need driving lessons mate!

This is how Evo describe the handling -

"A stiffer structure allows firmer suspension without ruining the ride, an approach obvious the first time you turn the steering wheel into an exciting-looking bend. If you’re in a Zetec S, with the handling-biased suspension settings, you’ll feel the sort of instant, precise and proportional response that makes you click with your machine. More steering movement brings an exact amount of extra turning, with understeer right off the agenda, and trimming the throttle does the same thing to the turning radius.

It has the firm but controlled ride of a truly rigid car calibrated by people who love driving, it leans hardly at all, and both brakes and five-speed gearbox work exactly as you would like them to. "

Oh, and it's actually lighter than the Mk6 too.
