to be fair i can see the point to it in 66 been a fan of your local team or club as it was played for the sport now it's just full of ponces who'd sell the sport out if the money was right plus it also boils down to who has the most money to pay the players to win the league imo

Well, the ball didn't cross the line for the 3rd goal, but as Geoff Hurst ran the length of the pitch and scored the 4th its all academic anyways. The Germans say they didn't defend the 4th goal becuase they were still protesting the 3rd...
Proof it's not a goal

Who honestly cares, like above, 3rd goal sealed it. Zee Germans were moaning, their choice, we got on with winning our home tournament.

I am kind of glad it does happen though, as it creates a bit of interest, debate and controversy which makes the game more interesting IMHO...

I meant we would still have won with 3 goals, but I worded it like a doyle.
Agree the debate keeps it interesting. Before my time, but still immensely proud they won it and would love to be able to support one in my lifetime. Have had the Ashes and the Rugby to celebrate, but footy is what I love and to celebrate us as World Champions would be, well, CHAMPION

Well, as a Scotsman, I hope you don't
![Surprised](https://passionford.com/forum/images/smilies/bigcry.gif)
But lets face it, all the debate around the beautiful game makes it more interesting... Total travestys aside, like Henry's handball against Ireland and Chelsea's mad norwegian ref in the Champions League semi... Or Eduardo's blatant dive against Celtic in the Champions league qualifiying, the referees making a cunt of things keeps it proper interesting!! Besides, Scotland can always use the refs incompetence as a useable excuse for never qualifying for anything worth talking about
![Surprised](https://passionford.com/forum/images/smilies/bigcry.gif)
I just hope that the world cup has a bit of controversy for us all to blether about on here!!

So again, while a travesty, it wasn't the only goal in the game.. That was a definate case of 'What the fcuk was the linesman doing at the time...'
I'm guessing there was some hot topless mexican chick in the crowd...

every game has dodgy decisions all the way through qualifying to the finals itself and all throught the finals to the world cup final itself so no point in asking what if etc anyway.
It all could be solved in this day and age though but the peeps in charge dont want video evidence for some bizzare reason, we all blame the refs and no doubt we will go out on some dodgy decision but they are only human and cant see everything and have intense pressure on them.

i dont see why they dont have a live camera and refs can play back on a big screen before they hand a decision out.. i know it would be a little time consuming but it would be fair, there using that system over here now or adopting it soon.

would end up like american football stopping every few seconds, and if the ref didnt play back every single second always, they would get blamed when they missed something that was on tape.
I can see why people dont want it for minor decisions, but for goals it would make sense.

FIFA also say that the game of football must have the same rules for the multi million pound league and tournaments as there are for 7 year olds on a sunday afternoon down the park. Can hardly have goal line technology there...

WIN IT the country went bonkers nothing like it before or since
.
Actually we won it because we had the best team in the world between 1966 -1969, our best ever side went to the 1970 finals , but for a Ramsey/Bonnetti f*ck up would have reached another final although im sure the Brazil side would have proved too strong in the final that Brazilian side is still recognised as the worlds best ever team & i agree.
Believe me lads this current crop of hyped up gay boys would not hold a candle to the 66 side in anything except higher levels of fitness.
When i hear the acolades about Rooney makes me chuckle he aint on the same planet as Moore/Charlton & what would we do for a Banks now.
