Maybe there is something wrong with me, but I really don't see the attraction to that car?? I'm not fussed on Mustangs to begin with, but that one looks like a shark that has been hit on the nose with a baseball bat. (IMO )

im not really into it either tbh.
i like the camero, thats very nice. But im into b-road blasts and corners. not show and shine and top trumps. It can have 500bhp but its still a two ton, left hand drive, auto heap with drum brakes and cart springs :/
they do sound lovely though

hoping to buy and ship back a 66 ish mustang when i come back to UK, will find a mint show car, bringing it back to sell, then i'll go back and by another, i had a 86 mustang gt for a bit, for only 225hp that thing went, and the beauty is, you can get so much power out of them if you want, it may have been 225 hp, but a 1000hp was cheap enough to get, and the modern engines are fantastic for tuning, but back to the muscle cars, one like the one below is what i'm after shipping in, worked out how to ship it duty/vat free,

i love the look of the old muscle car for crusing, but i would prefer the engine in a smaller british car like the mk1 carpi, or a cosworth replica for playing in.

Unless you have a large pot of invisible paint, you have no chance of succeeding with that.

you have to be living/working in the US for 6 months or more, and own the car for the 6 months, then when you ship it back, you have to own it in the UK for 12 months, then you don't pay duty or vat, unless they moved the goal posts again thats how you get round it, and seeing as i'm here for a bit, i can work it right to avoid.

I was going to post the '69 Camaro, stunning car and so much better than another Eleanor rep!

Caprigirl, nice choice, hope to see a resto thread sometime!

And show proof you have used it there i.e insurance certificate. And I believe show proof you have been employed and or paid utility charges, not just been on a holiday then flown out again 6 months later.

Good luck if you get it right, doubt if you'll get away with it a second time unless you leave a few years between the 2.

i will have proof of working and living in America for the 6 months, as well as insurance, and back in the uk i will have proof for the 12 months, so i should be ok, fingers crossed, yes the second one could be more tricky, but will have to see.

I'm not positive you need to prove you've been using it. Aslong as its you've owned it for the required time then it doesn't have to be registered on the road does it?

Not much of a business plan though, selling one car every 18 months. there must be some mark up in that!

You could always dismantle it, bring it in as parts Duty Free, pay the VAT and claim it back on your returns if you set up a registered company. Not sure how you would go about registering the car though as you need to show the DVLA the import documents.

The 400 bit refers to the cubic inch, so it's 6.6 litre. His would have to be very tweaked, as they weren't much over 200bhp.

its not really a business plan, more like a little bonus and to own said car for an amount of time, i'm going to be working in America for a few years, and with the right car can maybe make $10k+ and get to own it and use it a little in the time on both sides of the pond, the first car would be the mustang, anything pre 68 and fastback, then once that sold i may go for a 68-70 charger, or maybe a camaro, basicly anything that will sell for damn good money over here, whatever i buy will be show car clean so as to be worth most on the british side.
