Boot order....or the hdd is not seen by the bios....as its trying to boot from LAN
Could be fixable or could be a present for the wheelie bin....
GO into bios and check boot order - esc f12 or f10 depening on what ....
set boot order f10 to save and exit...
if that fails hammer....lol

Before looking at those two options, check the obvious things first - ie, check the hard disk is actually connected (once in a blue moon, they can sometimes work themselves loose depending on the design of the machine) - if it's easy to get to, remove and reseat it to make sure. Listen carefully when you turn the machine on - does it make any clicking or whirring sounds (not the fans, and remove any CD from the CD drive)?
Is it an Amilo Pro or a Lifebook?
If it still refuses to play ball, then consider a new hard disk - about £40. No point binning a perfectly serviceable laptop.
PS...you have a backup of your data don't you?

There is no clicking or anything just the fan.
I dont have any disks
Its an Amilio ![Rolling Eyes](https://passionford.com/forum/images/smilies/icon_rolleyes.gif)
I'm not sure what bios is, the only thing I can do when its starting is press f2 or f12
Pressing f12 I get this
![](http://i93.photobucket.com/albums/l67/Rsfudge/Photo0224.jpg)

F2 is the BIOS, but i dont really see why you need that.
The way i see it is your PC can see the hard drive (this is shown i nthe F12 boot menu as Sata HDD WD blah blah blah) So its the windows installation which is ballsed.....you can try a repair install (search google for this) or a complete re-install however doing a complete re-install will delete all of your data, and a repair wont.
However, the reason the windows installation is ballsed could be due to a faulty hard drive...... so it may be a case of you reinstall it get it back up and running and then 2 weeks down the line it happens again........
So up to you fella, personally id stick a new hard drive in and be done with it

Scrap this post, ive just seen your PC is set to boot from the network card which is why it couldnt find your Operating system...... If you restart the laptop you will probably get the same message in which case you will need to go back into the BIOS (F2 on boot) and change the settign in there, there is normally a tab cqalled boot so you can easy change this using the arrows on the keyboard.

So just to recap, in steps, what exactly did you do to fix this?
I friend of my misses came to me a few weeks ago with exactly the same problem with his Dell laptop, my first thought was a corrupt file in the OS
