Default Ticking when the oil is little dirty

On my 2wd cosworth I tend to develop a ticking as soon as the oil gets slightly dirty. Literally after a 400 miles. What's the cause of this? Is it due to the oil I'm using which was mobil sport. Or Is it my engine is dirty/containmenated?
Help please can't afford to keep changing oil all the time. Tia

I think the recommended grade is 10-50, that's what I run in mine.
