Pmsl all the way through this post brings back some memorys i must say
had a striker
had a team murray
then a huffy
then a racer
remember the lay backs,shimanos in anodised red or blue mounted down the cw,s(which were sooooooooo wide)that you could hardly reach them
my bro then got a mongoose which was nicked outside maccys (plice did not know who done it )but the fair was in town that week

b19 bal - give the shop I used to race for a call. They deal with Hope etc and might be able to help you with wheel builds. Nick is your man to speak to there, best wheel builder IMO! not sure of the no of hand but website is: pedalon.co.uk. It will be on there.

I remember telling my mates that it was an early mongoose!!

its ok about the wheels as im a cycle mechanic and i do all the work meself, cheers for the advice though

Yes it did have a stigma with it ,as dad paid for it could not complain,but was looking at all the others

I had a chopper back in the day. I ended up painting it blue & putting bits of tape on the spokes (as you do) before the handlebars snapped on day as I went round a corner. It ended up in the skip. Wish it had been welded together now..but was only bout 15 at the time. (Why is it that years later you always think "Hmm..should have done this instead?)

was never into bikes as a kid, not until 16 anyway.

would love to buy a pk ripper or a raleigh burner and race them.

got a kona chute at the moment, and a intense tazer frame (broken) and a intense m1 frame (broken) as well

my 1st bmx was a gold aero burner but i spent days peeling off all the gold tape type stuff off it and ended up with a chrome one
then i raced for raleigh for a while so had allsorts of one off's to play with . ended up with a haro freestyle but got too lazy and got into cars and women instead . stoooopid fookin idea that was
