And I agree, an xr3i is shit, I've had about 10 of them, the last one being about 13 years ago, when I thought to myself "this is shit, I want something better", so I went down the rs turbo and cossie route, but in all fairness, they're shit too, an rs turbo is just a xr3i with a turbo, different seats and a bodykit, ans they made even less of an effort with the s2 than the s1.

As for cosworths, since when has a sierra been any good, they are shit cars with a turbo, bolted onto a twin cam head, sat on a block design that is 40 years old or so.

But what is the first thing the owners do if they buy a s1/2 or cossie and want to mod them, they want a filter and stainless exhaust, so why slag off a skint 17 year old kid trying to do the same thing to his 1.1? It's all part of cutting your teeth on cars and they have to start somewhere.

So they do come to places like this, with their dreams and hopes and all the excitement they feel as they are just starting out on that road, the road we all started out on and they get attacked or ignored. Would you prefer them to ditch their old ford and get a saxo instead....

When I first came to this site, it was because it was a great site and I was sick of the egos on the rsoc forum, with the whole, it's not an rs, why bother mentality. How exactly can you be a badge snob, when all you own is that same shit car as they do, with the only difference being that it was modded at the factory and not in someone's garage. It's still a shit escort or Sierra, it just has more potential.

And that then brings us to the other group of people that used to be into fast fords, but who have now moved on to other things because they realised a long time ago that fords are rubbish, so they have evo's, and wrx's and bm's and rs4's and so on and so on.

I've been recently looking to get back into the ford scene again, as I now have some disposable income again, but what a joke. I wanted a series 1, but to get a nice one I need to spend 8k plus, and why would I spend that, when I can buy a very nice M5 for that money. (Let alone the price of spares for a series 1, with towing eye covers and exhausts being advertised for a grand a piece!!!)

So then I thought, I will get a mk1 xr2 (had about 6 of these when I was between 17 and 20) but people want 3.5/4k for a nice one, and again, I can have an M3 for that money, so why would I buy a 27 year old fiesta with 84bhp as a weekend toy, when I could have any number of very nice cars for that money.

So that leaves the final group of people, those of you that love your fords, you cant put your finger on why you love them, you just do, you lavish your time and money on these cars and they are beautiful, and if I had a hat, I would take it off to you, for all the effort you guys and girls put into your cars, and you do all of this, go through the pain and heartache these cars bring you, all because of your passion for these fords, as it is the one thing you all have in common.

So you should embrace all the people who share your passion, because they have that same feeling about their 1.1 as you have about your pristine series 1 or 550bhp cosworth and these people will be in short supply if you don't realise you are all on the same side and welcome them in.
