Why isn't passionford as good as it used to be?

I find it the other way round personally

I think you get a mix to be honest. I know plenty of RS owners who are absolutely fine, but I've been to meets before in a non-RS and when talking about my plans for cars, been asked why I'm bothering, cos it's "only a.......". That said however, I was always made to feel welcome at my local RSOC meet when I lived back in Norfolk. You get good and bad where ever you go really.

I know many will disagree with what I'm saying, but I'm certainly not alone in those experiences. I do think it is evident here at times though. I'm sure it's very often not meant in a malicious way, but I think many members would skip over threads for supposedly 'lesser' Fords in favour of reading about a highly tuned Cosworth or some such. That's fair in some cases of course, as it's what they're interested in, but I don't think it always helps to make new members or non-RS owners feel particularly welcome, or part of the community.

I know many on here and other forums will be an RS enthusiast, where as I always class myself as a Ford enthusiast, as I like all levels of car. I can appreciate a 1.1 MK2 Fiesta owned by a 17yr old lad that's got some tasteful work done to it, just as much as a 600bhp Cosworth powered Focus that's had £50k spent on it. Not many people can afford Cosworths anymore, due to parts prices and all the rest of it, and a lot of other RS cars are quickly going the same way, and that means people who are interested in Fords will buy XR/ST/Ghia or whatever badged cars instead.

People will, of course, read about what they're interested in, that's their perogative, but I do think part of the issue here is that many with 'lesser' cars often feel less welcome than those with Cosworths and the like, as they don't feel worthy, and get very few replies if they post pictures or ask questions about them. To some, an Escort GTI with 17" wheels and g-max suspension might be their pride and joy and the best car they can afford, but to many it may be looked down on or dismissed. That's fine, but that chap might well be a future Cossie/Focus RS owner, and lack of replies when he's new to the scene will mean he'll bugger off somewhere else and tell all his friends how he just got ignored by "...those bastards on pf!"

I personally don't care too much as I come on here more to read about what other people are doing than post about my own stuff. I don't own anything exciting because I can't at the moment, my priorities lie elsewhere, so I just read about other stuff instead.

Sadly though, some of those people with a chip on their shoulder, have it for a reason!

But some people with chips on shoulders get the hump when you call their xr3i shit...sorry thats not because i have a cossie it's because it's actually shit

Then you get the people with "normal" cars like your grandma could drive who'd try and make it fast instead of buyign a fast car. They right get the hump too!

No.
You are missing the point completely. Nobody said you are a stuck up RS owner. I don't think there are any stuck up RS owners to be honest, that would make people snobs and I would like to think that there aren't any on here. Not everyone can afford a Cossie or an RS. You think if I could afford it I wouldn't have a MK1 Focus RS on the drive instead of a 1.8 zetec? It'd be there tomorrow if that was the case but it isn't because I can't afford it, I'm 20 years old and a university student.

The point is that many people like contributing to a Cosworth or RS related thread with technical advice and such whereas somebody say even with a standard zetec may not get so much in the way of contribution even though there are people who have seen the thread that can contribute but they don't. I always contribute when I can to help other people out. Because I just think back to all the time I've had problems and have posted for help and other people kindly take time to advise, so I should do it back when I can. Like I said, there are people on this forum that offer next to no positive advice or contributions but instead are here solely to cause havoc and are basically snivelling little shit stirrers.

This is very true!

I know many people who wont touch Passionford for this reason!

Like over the last couple of days, i asked a question relevant to the thread, and got ripped apart for asking it Doesn't make people who dont know EVERYTHING feel like they are welcome on the site! Unless you know everything possible to know about car's or life in a garage then dont bother...thats how it makes ya feel and tbh it shouldn't be like that!

I had that problem trying to run a T-5

Incidentally, I wasn't calling you a stuck-up RS owner in particular, I don't know you, and I'm not that much of a cunt (well, maybe), but I have certainly come across them in my time in the Ford scene.

I'm setting myself up for a fall with the kinds of cars I like though

I didn't mean people saying that about myself in particular as tbh i dont really speak too much about my 3dr for that purpose!
I meant Cossie owners in general

I also have to agree about the comment on Rs Owners Vs. non Rs Owners!

Don't get me wrong I have been to my local RSOC meet, as I have friends within the club! I always worry about going along as my car isn't an Rs, I love it, and thats what matters, I have experienced it a few times as also said by massivewangers, how ya talk about your car or what you want to do to it, and get the response "whats the point, its not an Rs...." That sort of attitude, doesn't make you feel welcome etc, we all share the same love for FORD, so why is it a problem as to which FORD we all own?

I myself love all types, except KA's but thats my personal opinion and wouldn't begrudge someone who owned one, as everyone is entitled to their own opinion etc!

I was merely pointing out my own experiences and things I've heard from other people I know with non-RS cars. I also said that I've met many perfectly nice RS owners over the years. Like I say, you get good and bad, as with everything in life. I'd hardly call that having a chip on my shoulder

Also just to add...i have no issue with the Rs Owners i have met and am also friends with, and dont have a problem with meeting anyone with an Rs, its just the odd few as proved with my own experiences that make ya feel your not good enough cos ya dont have an Rs!

I hope that explains and is now understood i dont have an issue with and certainly dont have a chip on my shoulder over Rs owners!

thats kinda obvious tho tbh... an Rs owner isn't goin to say "whats the point its not an Rs" etc etc etc are they?! which is what both me and massivewangers have personally experienced...

Fair enough. A fair point. Perhaps I should develop one though, driving a shitty 1.4 Escort for the last five months has made me pretty bitter

Hmmmm, now I've seen a piccy I do recognise 'chop, think I have seen it before. Looks plenty aggro there. They old style Comps?
