Default Internet Explorer Help

Recently my Internet Explorer keeps going into "is not responding" mode and instead of fixing itself, restarting or closing, it just crashes.

Its now doing it 2-3 times a day and the only way to remove the page is completly shut down my laptop (restart does not work).

Does anybody know what I can do to fix this? Is there an Internet Explorer update due anytime?

Thanks

PS, I know jack shit about the tech side of computers so please dont go too technical

You could try a different browser - I've always thought that IE was a bit shit. Firefox, or Safari are worth a look.

I dont use I.E at home, purely cos its shit compared to other browsers!

I use Firefox at home, but this has lately started "not responding" then can't fix itself and closes itself down! So im thinking of changing browser again, if a possible update doesn't work!

IE at work is a bloody nightmare, constantly "not responding"

have you tried uninstalling it from your system, and then re-downloading it!? obviously by downloading another browser first otherwise ya can't download anything!

Im on safari now but not overly keen with it. See how I get on though.

Might try and un-install of IE and download it again.

Firefox always seems to crap out when I look at Wikipedia!

Google Chrome could be worth a try too! .

ctrl+alt+delete and see what's using all the cpu %

If you have an old pc, then those stupid animated adds can cripple your pc as I found out on my old one.

Mine did this daily for yonks. It shat itself if you had a few tabs open doing different things. Then one day it justresolved itself. I assumed it was a bug that was fixed on an update. It's totally fine now. It never stopped me from closing ie though. Just had to reopen ie and it'd recover the pages you were on.

See if you're updates are all done.

Likely not an issue with IE but with your computer itself. My PC is a few yers old and runs all the latest updates etc and occasionally IE does freeze up. Leave it a few seconds and it comes back to live. Think its just the processor can't handle busy webpages! On my laptop which is reasonably new, its fine, never had a problem.

You could always try clearing off any unused programs, run crap cleaner (www.ccleaner.com) then defragment the hard drive to see if that makes it any better!

Do you have any add-ons installed? i.e. Search Bars, etc?

You can try running Internet Explorer wih no Add-ons by going via Start > Programs > Accessories > Systems Tools > Internet Explorer (No Add-ons)

It did it before and the only tab I had open was PF.
The other thing that really gets on my nerves is Pistonheads. If I click on a picture on a classified add the page changes so the toolbar dissapears and I cant get it back. Another reason I then have to close the page itself

Its not like im on an old computer, 18month old Dell Inspiron is what im using

Try going to tools, internet options, then change all the settings back to default!
