Default Nexen tyres?

Anybody used them?
Thinking about getting some as the size i'm after my choices are limited to:

Nexen N3000
Toyo Proxes4
Avon ZZ3

everything else is just pure budget cack!

The Nexen's are also the cheapest of the above, also one of the highest rated on a tyrereviews.co.uk

would have thought the Toyo's would be the best choice. Presuming it is a 195/50/15.
I seen these for £30 each on camskill, I thought it was a good price

I thought Falkens would be half decent. A mate at work got a pair of falkens for his Alpina B10, and is happy with them. They were rated on the Alpina forum as an alternative to the Michelin Sports. Obviously most likely not as good as them, but still a good compromise

Yeah I was looking at falkens. But the ones they do in that size are'nt mirrored tread patterns. So the camber on the car wears the insides faster than outside and you can't get them rotated so they never last more than a few thousand miles.

ahh I was wondering why you had left them out of your list!
I have never used the Nexens, so I couldnt comment.

I remember people going on about Yokos years ago and I had a set and they were pish,.
Carlo bought the car from me and put a set of Avons on it and the wheelspin was quietened down considerably

I highly rate my T1R's. But im not a fan of the stretched tyre so my 195's don't cut it anymore. and they dont do the t1r's in a 40 profile.

The only thing thats putting me of the avon's is price. They are about £65 a corner which is a bit out of my price range.

i find the t1rs too soft,
i used to chew the edges off the tyres in no time,
nexans seem quite abit harder and last longer

I might just have to bite the bullet and go for the avon's. I only need 2 for now until I finish off the T1r's on the front. Have to save some pennies for another set when i wear out the fronts.

The only thing putting me off them is the wet rating is poor. They are classed as a summer tyre. We all know what birtish summers are like! lol

I had a set of Nexens for a few months and found them ok for the price. They weren't amazing, but it gripped fairly well through the bends really. Wasn't putting much power through them so not sure how they were traction wise, but they always ok through the twisties. I've had far worse!

toyo px4's are a good tyre! if you liked the t1r's you will like them!
what width you running?
as 195/40/16 or 195/45 give more choice in them sizes.
or you could run 2154016 which gives you slight better choice.

I can get away with 195 or a 205 width. But the 195 is a bit stretched and i dont like it at all. you can feel the sliding on the very edge of the tyre wall round the twistys!

I think the wheels are a 16x7j so 205 is the "correct" size. But I like the 40 profile as it keeps the wheels the same rolling diameter as std wheels.

No, the 6000's are rated as a better tyre but they only do the 3000 in a 16.

Well I spoke to the guy at camskill and he said the toyo proxes 4 is the better tyre and the AVON zz3 is being phased out anyway. So I would have to wait over week until he could get some AVON's

Toyo it is then.
