Diamond cutter m8, would be a little expensive for one hole though, try screw fix.

You would need the centre guide bit for that too..

Ordinary masonary drill bit, start with smaller size and work upto the size you want, make sure you dont push to hard otherwise the tile will crack and make sure your drill is turned off the hammer bit,

or, Glass drilling bit!

I always use this method, and have never broken a tile or mirror!

not with those bits you dont. got to start them at a angle to get them going. I use 115mm bits in porcelain and they dont have pilot drills.

use a 7mm standard masonary bit, without the drill on hammer, you'll feel it bite into the glaze on the tile and should go through no bother, once through the tile then put the drill on hammer action till you get through the wall. then repeat with a larger bit.

use a brand new drill bit though or it'll probably slide all over the place.

i've used this type on 10 mm ceramic tiles when i didn't have the diamond cutter to hand, work ok if you keep well lubed with water drill the centre hole with a masonary bit off hammer first.

Chris i always use std masonry bits and do as it just like you, break the glaze off hammer then switch to hammer. Problem is i find the bigger the hole the less round it is with masonry bits . Might give those a go above what sean uses! Like hole cutters

When i am using a standard masonry drill to drill into ceramic tiles i usually put a couple of thicknesses (one on top of the other) of masking tape where i'm about to drill as this usually stops the drill bit from slipping when it's trying to 'bite'.
