No you need to pair the card with each box. You would have to ring sky to change it over and it can take a couple of hours.

It will say this is the wrong viewing card for this box or something like that

Plus if you did it say every weekend for football in a games room im sure they would catch on and stop letting you change it over

We have our sky box downstairs in the livingroom with an internal sender aerial, up stairs in the bedroom is the recieving aerial. Works perfect...

Either get an HDMI splitter and run 2 cables, or get another make of box for the 2nd room. My Dreambox will work prefectly with the SKY card with out any pairing.

Use component to one room, hdmi to the other - for simplicity, hdmi to the nearest tv, component to the one further away. Happy days.

HDMI splitting can be a gamble with HDCP - depends on tv's and the splitter as to whether you get a proper picture or a horrendously blocky one.

i thought the only channels you needed to pair the box to the card for were the premium ones ie movies/sports/porn?

your situation also sounds like you may want to consider a media center type system. im sure there are some good ones out there

I thought you could watch free HD programming (BBC-HD + ITV1-HD) without a viewing card if just just had the box? As the world cup is on these channels not SkySports/ ESPN which you need a suscription (sp?) for.

As per porkie - one coax for magic eye; component for hd video.

Have a spare couple of magic eyes and remotes for +/hd here - can't remember what the cost was but you're welcome to a set for a tenner posted if it helps

Chris

*edit* (sorry didn't see that you already have one!)

You can use one card. I have hd in my front room. and my sons have one in there bedroom. sky wanted £9 extra a month for multi-room. ie a clone card. I have an expired card they use for all free channels. but If I put my card in I can watch it all.... jst tried it.
