im about to start looking more into putting a ffd 6speed sequential or reylands skyline os geken conversion in the mk3
im after any feedback or info on pro`s and cons on both boxes as the expensive so only want to do this once
i think martins comes as a full kit, but what clutch and flywheel to use, i know i could ring martin and will once i have the money in full but just after feedback off anyone using one
the ffd, i know i have to change starter motor, but what clutch and flywheel to use and do i need a cooler different props
cheers wenny

my mate broke his os gearbox on his r32 skyline running just over 600bhp
stuck a std box in and it lasted since he got rid of the car![Surprised](https://passionford.com/forum/images/smilies/bigcry.gif)
the skyline boxes are strong and its what ill be running in the escort, but im hoping ive made enough room to use the r34 gtr 6 speed getrag,if i havnt ill cut more floor out![Surprised](https://passionford.com/forum/images/smilies/bigcry.gif)
speak to llyodd off here as he ran a skyline gearbox in his mk4 cossie aswell
plus you can have rwd and 4wd on skylie box so you can get your rear tyres sticky on the strip after a quick burn out then stick in 4wd

FFD is fit and forget in my experience,
my lux pack road trimmed escos with only the carpets and rear sets removed was running consistent lowish to mid 10,s with terminals of 140mph+ power was calculated at 675bhp from the weight and terminals
never broke....buy one and when you have finished with it you will get your money back!

Yes but it dont mean it wont break!
Look how much do modern WRC boxes cost and they still break. I know of somebody who had a whine on 3rd gear in his ex Petter Solberg Subaru and im led to believe that it cost Ł22.5k for a rebuild, with a software upgrade to change gear quicker coming in at Ł4k alone from Prodrive.
It dont matter how much it costs, if it is mechanical, it has a lifespan and eventually it will break!

No offence, but your mates a f*cking idiot
Give me a list of how many FFD's have broken, then I might swallow that crap
I'm not ruling out they don't eventually break, but driven correctly and not abused by some stupid little chav and they should last. Its not like Wenny does track days and everyday use is it.

I have to agree that its defintely not unbreakable, people have and people will break them, its just less likely to go wrong than one of the cheaper units which are sold as capable of doing the job when clearly they aren't.

FFD's do break, the two WRC esc's we deal are the 6 speed MS95's converted to sequential, they are prone to main shaft failure after a period of time....I know of at least three that have done main shafts, they arn't indestructable !!
The gears are huge and very well made...

Relatively speaking though we run FFD because Mr Bara is cost effective and a decent guy to deal with, always willing to help etc.....
The seq conversion does make them exceptionally nice to drive....the change is fantastic, but like any peice of kit, they need regular maintenance...
XTRAC are brilliant but double/triple the price to maintain....
You can get an FFD with with a standard bellhousing and starter arrangement or a bellhousing for the lightweight 909 starter..
We use a lightened flywheel with 7 1/4" twin plate paddle or 200mm AP carbon clutch...

Can just start to see the wear on the dog teeth there Ian.
When are you next out? Wouldnt mind watching you out in action again.
COCHYN No offence taken, im just making a point that nothing is indestructable, and in the spirit of competition, especially rallying in the most up to date machinery, it costs an absolute fortune for a privateer.
