That is mine on VirginMedia whilst uploading photos to photobucket.

and that is with no downloads.

I was with BT on their "up to 8mb" tariff. Never got over 3.2MB and Sundays were as bad as dialup.

They also used to say that I was going over my 10GB allowance each month by as much as 10GB so were charging me for every extra GB.

When I complained they said that I must be using that much, even though they could not provide any proof. All I do is browse forums, some internet banking, and not much else. The other half uses facebook and some forums. Tell me how that is 20GB a month usage????? Then they tried to charge me £25 to cancel with them which I point blank refused to pay due to service issues.

Gone with VirginMedia now and an getting the above figures all times of day or night.

BT have gone to shit recently, especially since about November last year.

for comparison

Download speedachieved during the test was - 6067 Kbps
For your connection, the acceptable range of speeds is 600-7150 Kbps.
Additional Information:
Your DSL Connection Rate :7520 Kbps(DOWN-STREAM), 448 Kbps(UP-STREAM)
IP Profile for your line is - 6500 Kbps

and router details,,
Bandwidth (Up/Down) [kbps/kbps]:448 / 7,520
Data Transferred (Sent/Received) [MB/GB]:194.25 / 2.01
Output Power (Up/Down) [dBm]:11.5 / 19.5
Line Attenuation (Up/Down) [dB]:18.0 / 30.0
SN Margin (Up/Down) [dB]:24.0 / 8.5

so our lines are near on identcal, so in effect should get the same speed

both in sync at the same...
loop attenuation both 30 db

so as far as i can see,the issue is definatly with your exchange equiptment probably with the card ... so finger crossed that shouls solve the issue,,,

the most common issues i come accross for slow speed..

missing filters.. you`ll ask a customer if there is any phones without,, they still will miss it,, so i will always check all points..

sky boxes... always make sure that there are after the filters, may sky ones are before causing the speed to slow,, seen lines loosing 5 meg because of this...

bell wiring,,, if you can, remove the 3rd wire from your nte5, all adsl filters have a capacitor to make the phone ring...

router,,, leave it on,, many switch em off overnight,, it needs to be left on to adjust to the line conditons and set a stable ip profile,,,

This is wireless from the bedroom, ethernet test in the living room is 50.0 megabits per seconds or there abouts.

Posting scores from work isn't that impressive unless you are raping the company bandwith for your own use in which case good on you.

Christian,

If you want reliable fast speed I would switch to Virgin Media immediately. I have a Nokia N97 on Vodafone that has a better transfer rate then your home internet

Nothing wrong with your line mate. My attentuan is 57db due to living in the sticks in cornwall, exchange is 3 miles away.

My guess is your ISP has capped your data transfer rates. AOL did it with mine for 2 years, my mum is account holder and wouldnt take my advice to ask for a mac code. Eventually she did and the speeds went from 120KB/s to 300KB/s overnight.

Ring BT up in the morning, ask for a MAC code (for your internet service, not for the telephone line service), when they ask why, state you think your capped, that you think their tech support is lying to you.

9/10 times your speed will improve.

If it doesnt, switch to someone else like tiscali anyway, as even if the speed issues stay, you have ironed out so many possibilities.

That is what people seem to say but as they have given me free internet for 2 years I have no complaints.

I constantly lose my connection between my pc in my room and the router downstairs, occasionally the signal into the house drops but usually its just a wireless issue which I can only sort my unplugging the router

Either way for free I am not complaining

Well you can't knock that mind!

I found them to be unreliable and extremely unhelpful.
