What is wrong with it? You have reason to believe something is wrong with it then?

My first thought is the bends are likely to fold when they are bent on an exhaust bender like that, but thats about all I can see from a quick glance.

Yes it's built from exhaust tubing. My initial concern was the bends clearly aren't mandrel and the fact the pipe is seamed. I wanted to see what other more experienced people thought about it or whether I was off the mark

Would of thought the bottom needed to be welded to a strengthen plate to stop it pushing through the floor should the worst happen.

isn't there a regulation on the amount of deformaty on the bends of a cage to warrent it safe for competition use, i'm sure i'v seen that said on here, apart from the fact it has a chance of splitting open under heavy load

Should be 45 x 2.5 or 48 x 2 CDS seamless tube. That exhaust tube has a seam, has too thin a wall and the method of forming has caused too much deformation.

for a start its not properly welded

No 3mm floor reinforcing plates, too much deformation on bends, needs A pillar bar supports to stop the A pillar bars collapsing etc etc etc

and thats before you get to the fact its made of exhaust tubing

No mate, one of the lads on Cruise Herts. He's been told by many people how bad it is but he brushes off peoples comments by saying it looks "pimp" and that the people that built it (a well known bad custom exhaust company) are getting annoyed at peoples comments that aren't cage builders as it's tarnishing their reputation. Ermmmmm.

I have no personal issue with the chap but his attitude is childish and nothing short of completely irresponsible.

Biggest issue is the way the bends have been so comprehensively weakened by how they have been performed.

Being made of exhaust tube isnt ideal either as its not CDS its seamed.

I would imagine the only significant contribution it will make in a crash is giving you something hard to hit your head on TBH, although it may give *some* extra rigidity it will certainly be nothing like that afforded by a proper cage.

I assume its been done just for looks, which is ironic as with the bends like that it looks fucking shite anyway
