Default Mondeo without a DPF

HI Folks
I'm looking to replace my 2005 Mondeo TDCI 130 with the newest one I can find without a DPF.
Does anyone know when they started to fit the DPF?

I could be wrong but I thought they started fitting them in the MK4, so you need a Mk3. You live on Jersey or something?

No I don't live on Jersey I just don't like the idea of something else that will cost money to service if I can find one without it.
I was also told by a friend with a C-Max that the fluid for them is Ł100 a bottle and will need re-filling at every third service...is this the case?
I was under the same impression as you that they went on at Mk 4 but a Ford salesman told me yesterday that they didnt go on the Mondeo until mid 2009, if this is true I would buy a low mileage one of them instead of a 6 month old one with a DPF.

The C-Max uses fluid, but I don't think the mondeo does. You just need to ensure you drive the car hard every so often.

Read somewhere that the 1.8 doesn't have the dpf, only the 2.0.

I don't think I need to worry about it not being driven hard enough!
You are right about the 1.8 it has no DPF but I just think it might seem a bit gutless compared to my 130 TDCI.
Thanks for the info on the fluid I had assumed they would use the same system.

there are places now that can remove the dpf system and re map your ecu to write it out of the programming so you dont end up with the engine light on all the time

the mondeos have a coated dpf so no additive is needed.as said a good run every so often will clear off the Nox particles.only downside to a car with dpf esp with mondeos as ive found at work is the service oil light comes on every 5000 miles roughly.its due to the engine injecting more fuel so it can clean the dpf which seeps through the rings and dilutes the oil which inturn raises the level.not a big deal though

The 1.8 has the same torque as the 2.0 - remap it and you'll have even more.

Ah right. Wonder if anybody's tried electrostatic scrubbers like they fit to industrial chimneys?

Electrostatic scrubbers will cause more polution in the form of ozone on a car than the fuel remnants.

Can't say I know that much about them. I can image there being issues with cars being made largely of ferrous metal, too.....!?
