Hi, I have a play on my flanges on the rear diff of my car, where the flanges are connected to the diff. The funny thing is that there is no oil leak from the flanges seals on the diff casing but the play is big especially on the right side flange (5-6mm up and down movement) . Can anyone tell what it's going on? Do I have to wait for a bang???
The car is a 4wd sierra cosworth.

 

that will be wear in the diff bearings. I guess your just lucky its not leaking oil if it has any lol and its at the right level

 

But it seems that the play is just on the flanges, the diff has oil filled up to the plug...
Does anyone has a rear diff repair manual? Cheers!

 

the flanges go through the diff houseing which has the bearings on each end and sit in the side gears also cliped in tight if the flanges are moveing up and down id say the diff is to as the bearings are fucked take the rear cover off and move them then to see if the diff moves with them if not is the side gear moveing with the flange?
