Default Cossie head rebuild, gasket change - pics

Just pulled the head of my 4b to replace the gasket..
Now I don't know when the head was off last, the head has never been skimmed (still standard thickness) but it's certainly been an absolute minimum of 6 years and 20K miles, cos that's the time I've known it..
This is how it looked as it came off, just with a wipe round with a rag:

The inlet ports and seats look completely fresh!! even the inlet valves look like they've been in there a few months rather than years. Exhausts do look more like you'd expect i guess..

Pistons are pretty clean too - again with just a wipe with a rag:

Is this the same experience that everyone else has found?? This all looks pretty clean for 6 years, only the gasket gives a real indication that it's been in there a long time..

The ones I have seen usually have much more carbon build up on the pistons/ head.
I reckon you don't drive it hard enough!!!
nice to see a good outcome after taking a cossie head off, they are few and far between these days.
