Anyone fitted adjustable tca's?
If so how much difference to the handling do they make?
Trying to make my esc cos handle better with 18's on and make it less twitchy.
Thanx Chris

Chris,
What do you mean by twitchy?
The Escort Cosworth already has extremely direct steering and fitting adjustable TCAs and setting the camber up to a more track friendly setting (2° negative) will make the steering even MORE direct (i.e. what some might describe as "twicthy").
I have the adjustable TCAs on my car and I love how direct the steering is, but a professional test driver / racer (Gareth Lloyd) found it too direct for his taste (but he was driving it back to back with his lardy E46 M3 Evo).

By twitchy i mean wheels following every uneven road surface. On bad roads it feels like driving over marbles.
Car has had new rack, standard tca's poly bushes, track rod ends, etc, and has improved but still not good. Tracking has been set to 0.
I know they will be worse with 18's on but just trying to improve.
Is there anything else i can do to improve things?

The fact that the tracking has been set to parrallel is the problem
. Cossies need a bit of toe-in (0" 20'). This is because when moving forward there is obviously play in the bushes (even with poly bushes - unless it is fully rose-jointed
) and so if set to parrallel, the wheels will toe out in forward motion
. Obviously if set to a small amount of toe-in, then when moving forward you get parrallel...

Mike
Don't agree with that because under power the front wheels are driving aswell and they will pull forward which will give more toe-in !
Under Braking the wheels will be pushed back giving toe out !
I agree running slight toe-in suits the car but your desciption is wrong.
You have to be carefull when running adjustable TCA's when the car has been lowered because if you run excessive negative camber the drive shafts can pull out of the inner joints on lock under power if not checked for length !
If you have this mod done go to someone who understands suspension setup !
ie
D.O.M.E Engineering. or someone like Ahmed Bayjoo
