If it's a decent keylogger, you won't. Of course your up-to-date anti-virus would spot it and prevent it from running...

If your computer's got security holes, it doesn't take long for a determined geek to take full control of it from their bedroom. That's why your computer must be covered by a firewall, anti-virus, and have all the current security updates installed.

Mine wasn't covered...... This is why I'm having alot of issues right now. It's been doing stuff while I've not been using it. I just got an e-mail from BT telling me I've been using too much internet........

I've also been signed up to every gay porn website going. Along with cock enlargment, self help guides.... Pension plans...

Someone doesn't like me....

Bought some proper anti-virus stuff and had 32 pieces of malicious software running.... Although, as BT have put me on restriced speed for the next 30 days, I doubt my hacker chum will be back. God only knows what it's been doing at night while I've been sleeping. They also got into my Fantasy Football team and sold all my decent players. Left me with Jason Roberts up front........... Balls.

Basically, someone has sent me a file which has had these virus things in it. Or sent me a link. I've clicked it and boom. Chaos.... So. I'm going to delete everyone. If anyone wants to talk to me, phone me

Bastards

Indeed, Windows is only secure when it's still in the box.

if it's a decent keylogger your anti virus won't pick it up either.

one of the security tools i use at work is a legitimate piece of software (obviouslly) which will log keystrokes, perform all manner of decryption, and provide forensics information that nothing else i've ever seen can... .and i guarantee you would never ever know it was there unless you are the MOST paranoid person and spend a good couple of hours making sure your PC is secure before you do anything!

haven't read the whole thread but as far as people complaining about spam go... i'm guessing you're thinking someone has hacked your hotmail and is sending spam from your account. this is highly unlikely. best to change your password as a precaution but generally speaking examination of the sender's address will show that it's a random yahoo or hotmail account being made to look like you're the sender.

personally i get about 50-60 spam emails a day which apparently came from my account.... except they didn't!

predictions are that much as most viruses have moved from exploiting bugs in microsoft to acrobat/adobe products, they will be hitting mac soon... there have already been instances infact, although they're not well publicised!

a friend of mine used to build these things for likes of people bigger than norton antivirus etc, he could disable mine from his own computer,
the thing what people forget is, people actually build these things so they do no ways around them just incase things go wrong

Unfortunately the only programs that are written to be small and efficient these days are viruses. Adobe and Microsoft (and more besides), whilst making capable products, have fallen into the bloatware trap - their programs are now so large they're impossible to debug properly, which is why we end up with security vulnerabilites that need to be patched every week.
