Default BMW 320 d tuning?????? Remap ???

My mate has an 07 320 d coupe, he wants to get it remaped for some more power, now he's been along to someone near glasgow and they have said for 320?? quid they would remap it, I tolkd him to hold his horses until i asked you lot.

My question is are these remaps that they basically send from a main server and downlaod it onto the car any good?? i told him a live map on a rolling raod would be the way to go but it will be more expesive, what should he be looking for power wise and how much should he pay.

He's in glasgow so where should he go, someone has mentioned mtec and celtic something???

Personally i'd get one of them handheld devices like bluefin etc to remap it, unless the guy has a good history of mapping and is well known within the BMW world.

mtec, as in the breakers in rutherglen? didnt know they were doing that stuff, never heard of the celtic ? one, @320 he is nearer the price of a proper live map which i would think is the best option rather than a generic downloaded map, ive heard of these maps for around the 150-200 pound mark so if he can get one of those id go for it otherwise spend a bit more and get a live type map or one from the likes of dastek etc.

Goto one of MSD's dealers local to you - especially good since they offer a 7 day money back garantee should you not be happy with the remap and then a lifetime warranty on the remap itself - This is very useful especially if your car goes into the dealer and has a software update and wipes your remap - the MSD warranty covers that and you get it put back on the car by the MSD dealer who did the remap

www.remapping.co.uk for more information and a map of dealers in your area

No point in getting a guy to map it if he hasn't got a decent track record, if it goes wrong its expensive. On the other hand you could get an off the shelf map thats tried and test and should have no problems at all.

A Rover-Ron witch-craft box you mean? - I certainly won't be putting one of those on my MG-ZT diesel! I don't beleive in anything that plugs into the duel rail pressure sensor and MAF and then lets you twiddle a variable resistor will do any good for the engine!

How much do these things go for? Can you plug into as many cars as you want? Do they make a good difference to the petrols aswell as the diesels?
