Central heating experts... Diverter Valves..
Anyone tell me which pipes do what on the piccy....
Had the usual probs.. Want hot water but get luke warm but radiators get hot.. Ive had off and looked at diaphram but seemed fine, Just wondered how it worked to see if i could cure by say stretching spring etc. Can get new one but it dont look bad so wanted to see if could fix this first.
Its on a wanky Ravenheat littlestar, The smooth groove but below the 2nd fitting on pic carries what seems like a flow swich which clips on if that helps..

i was just about to post up a question about diverter valves lol.
as in, where the fook is it?
there is NOT one in the airing cupbourd, and i have taken the covers off the pipes above and below the boiler, but cant see a way of actually taking the main cover off the boiler if you get me?
the boiler is an old stelrad group ideal excel
cheers

cheers mate. my problem is basically that if i turn the hot water on, the rads heat up too, and the same for the heating. turn one on and it does both, so im thinking that the valve is fooked, but i cant find it lol
had right day of taking a rad off today with leaking valves, only to find that most of the of the other rad valve leak when i shut them off cunts

Hi it could be a couple of things yes Ravenheat do make crap boilers is there any chance u know the gas councle number of the boiler? should start with 47 then 5 more numbers
couple of things if your heating is off and cold and u run the hot tap does the heating flow pipe become hot if so its possibly the diverter valve passing its quicker easyer and cheaper just to change it if not it could be the plate heat exchanger scaled up its rather hard to diagnose over the internet
good luck with getting it fixed

47 581 30 is councle no
On H/W only radiator outlet gets hot, infact hotter than hot water outlet and hotter quicker also.
Hows it cheaper to replace?? in the long run kind of thing?? Its odd, the Diaphram looks fine, it isnt full of sludge etc.....
Cant find a Diaphram service kit for it, its a LS80 model too

yehr it sounds like your diverter valve is passing no real quick fix but to change it along with the diaphragm but from looking at my laptop parts your talking about Ł110 but remember only gas safe registered people are alowed to work on boilers
part number wise the manuf number for the 3way valve is 0008val09010/0 if u need ravenheats number its 01132 527007 for tec help they can always put u through to parts or to get a eng out poss

could be anywhere chap, usualy found near boiler or cylinder but that dont help you at all,i have found em in all manner of odd locations
start looking under the floor near boiler and cylinder,in ya fireplace and near there under the floor again,or you could trace back the cables from the wiring centre but this is very awkward to do
are you sure you have one it may be a gravity system
good luck geezer

it is a gravity fed system, i should have said its not a combi.
well, its not above or below the boiler, or in the cupboard under it. not in the airing cupboard by the cylinder.
all the floors on ground level are concrete, and i dont think its in the firsplace as its very small, and from what i can see is just the gubbins for the fire...
ill keep looking
