Default Help fitting aftermarket fuel gauge!

anyone ever fitted an aftermarket fuel gauge in your motor? i have fitted them into loads of old stuff like my cossies and mk1/2`s but this a "new" Audi A4 on a 2000 reg, and wondered if anyone knew if i could retain the origional sender or do i have to try and retrofit an old style item?

any ideas off Chip or anyone else who may have an inclin?

cheers, sean.

I've configured my standard Ford Focus ST170 fuel level sensor to work with my AIM MXL Strada dash.

You'll need access to a workshop manual or TIS equivalent for finding out the level sender wiring location obviously, but it's normally a 3 wire setup - power, ground and signal.

I'm pretty sure the stack 52mm gauge is nice and configurable for setting a 'minimum' and 'maximum' resistance level and will remain linear between.

Bit of homework with a wiring diagram, a multimeter and a mate putting a litre at a time into the tank should prove helpful

nice one!

i got all my other gauges sorted and then thaught, fuck, no fuel lol!

yeh im very handy building motors but wiring i hate. Wiring diagrams is all ive dont for the last month so im used to them now and know the colours in my head, lilac, green yellow, and brown, brown.

looks like a fuel gauge will cost more than all the rest put together! typical.

cheers fella!

i work right next to Burton Power so most things i get are through them and i get good discount but i dunno what they are willing to discount for "special orders".

would love an AIM setup, like the way they are setup etc and i fitted a few too!

Christian had a cracking bargain of a package for sale not so long back mate. Much cheaper than retail prices...

I've got a contact at the official UK distributor who might be able to help you out with a second hand one, he sometimes takes Stradas in part exchange on Pistas...

That one you've linked for tweeks, to me it just looks a bit childish lol - i'm sure its perfectly functional, but i'd rather put the extra money in for something that looks more purposeful!
