checking £50.00 notes help
hi all does anyone now the best way to chack £50.00 notes as you cant use ultra violet on them, i just want to be sure , i now you can buy the pens but need one for sunday , who sells them?

Just googled this info -
The ink should rub off onto a plain piece of white paper. Also when you hold a note to the light not only should you see the silver strip, you should see darker areas coming off them at right angles that look (supposedly) like piano keys.
The silver strip should be clearly visible and if you tear the note slightly across the strip, you should not be able to tear the through the strip.
The wording of the Bank of England should be raised if you run your fingers across it, as should the shape roughly centre bottom. Can't remember what shape it is for £50's but it's there to help the blind and visually impaired. It's a different shape for each note.
You should also have a hologram of £50 on the note.
Be aware you may have to put the note into the bank as many shops will not accept them, just in case.
You can also buy pens that tell you if it's fake.
