Too many posts.. I need a life!!
Wow all those words in the advert and a crazy price but no mention of the most important aspect of this cars history - it's a stolen recovered car. Did you forget when writing the advert ?

Wahay!! I've lost my Virginity!!
Escort
It is a very well known car in the RSOC and I have never tried to hide the cars history.
Some people on here and other forums need to get a grip.
And as for a crazy price, find me a better big turbo Escort cosworth I would like to see it.

My old car which was stolen from me
Just to clarify the car is NOT recorded on any Hpi register and had no marker against it. When it was recovered the car was partially stripped I bought the car back from the insurance company for a premium to ensure the car would not have any markers against it

Nice car, lovely condition and sounds a fair price for what it is. Let's leave him to sell it.

I find ads of this nature blatantly deceitful, take the time to list all the positve aspects and command a premium price, but fail to list anything negative.
Surely if you bought a car of that value, or indeed are trying to sell it on, you'd do your homework and be as thorough as possible, which means you'd also know it's history. I have no problem with the car being SR, but don't ask a premium for it either if you're not going to disclose the facts.

As I had an agreed valuation I was given first refusal to buy it back
The car was recovered by the Police and collected by a local breakdown company
The car was then rebuilt by John Taylor who had previously owned it -the only part that needed replaced was a side skirt clip
To be honest the theft and break-in sickened me so much that once the car was rebuilt I sold it to John for what I paid the insurance company for it he then in turn sold it on
Still looks stunning in the pics just glad it was recovered rather than being lost forever

Bit double standardish when it comes to for sale threads!!!
If its a tarted up restored heap of shite, with an absolutely chuckable price tag, its acceptable.
But if its an unrestored, stolen recovered car, that is a genuinely mint car with a big price tag it is sociably unacceptable!!!???
The stolen recovered thing is a social stigma (the same as cars that have high miles or cat c/d write off). These type of cars are sociably altered in price by joe bloggs, because "oh its been stolen" or "ohh the miles are a bit high on it". Its a stigma thats been carried from the 70s/80s/90s that 'in my opinion', means absolutely fuck all in todays terms!!!
If in front of me is an honest car, with honest mileage, honest condition, an honest description of sale - then i have no quams or queries of making a purchase providing the price suits my budget at the time!!!!
Its the fucking arseholes that want everything for nothing, but wanna sell it on for a fortune, that are the ballbags that kick tyres and drag this "stolen recovered" or "high mileage" or "category write-off" as selling/buying strategy, to suit their own needs!! They would happily sell the above description for a fortune, but wanna buy the same like that for buttons!!
I know what i would rather pay for, and thats a high miler, good condition, well priced, honest original car, opposed to a bluffed up clocked, piece of wank with a ridiculous price tag. ie. Most RS Fords!!

Car is clear on HPI, not on the hit list, had a few minor bits pinched but no damage. Far as I can see there's no problem at all. It was pinched once, returned intact, the few parts that were missing were replaced and offered for sale. What's the issue ? I wouldn't pay £50k for it mind, but it's a straight car in my view.

It doesn't matter if it's HPI clear though, the point we're making is that every aspect of the cars history is pointed out, apart from the fact it was stolen, and on top of that they added on a hefty margin.
Don't expect to conduct your business like that and not draw any critics. Personally I couldn't give a toss since I have far more important things to be worried about, but if it was your £50k and you found out afterwards that it was once stolen, and everyone else already knew, I think you'd be pretty annoyed you'd paid a premium for it, regardless if it's on HPI or not.

Agree 100%!! With a car like that I doubt if it was stolen by someone who will try and give it a new identity, unfortunately it will either be broken up or its already in a container on its way overseas! Wish the owner all the luck in getting it back before either of those things happen.

^^^^^^^^^^Car has been recovered mate. This thread has resurfaced again because the car is up for sale but the seller is being a bit, shall we just say, economical in his description of the cars history.

If i had 50k id hapily go buy this... warm it up in his garage then do a 7k launch from his garage abd drive it how it should be driven. Who cares if its stolen recoverd its never going to be worth any less than 50k to a collector who will just let it gather dust. All classic fords are on the up and are only going up in value. In years to come people with wish they probz baught this because they will be worth twice what they are now.

i'm sure you'd be spending £50k to buy this car if you had £50k to buy a car
only someone who's not going to miss £50k is going to even look at that, and certainly not as an investment for the short term
and certainly once you find out that the seller is not telling you stuff and you start to think what else he's been hiding
and then you find that there's been a 40% mark up on what he might have bought it for
etc etc
no ones denying it's a nice car, just not £50k nice, £25k nice and it would be gone in a flash

Hi Glenn, I have just been looking at Escort Cosworths for sale and there seems to be some real minters at a fraction of that price. No doubt though someone with more money than sense will buy it and it will probably never turn a wheel again but become a museum piece or trailer only car !!
