S1 Wings Question

My S1 wings are in good condition apart from around the side repeater hole where they've started to rust and look crap.
I was going to get a bodyshop to blank them over so I had smooth wings, but would it be cheaper to just replace the wings with genuine no side repeater S1 wings?
On that topic how much would you pay for a mint pair of genuine S1 wings?
By the way the car was registered pre 1986, so I think I can get rid of the side repeaters and still pass an MOT.
Thanks in advance.

I think there is a pair of wings for sale in the 'for sale' section. you will pay a fortune for them though as they are the last ones available.
As regards to blanking them off you could do this as your car doesnt NEED side repeaters.. depends how well its done though.. it could look gash!
you might be better getting a decent set of pattern wings as they are cheap as cheap and are normally a good fit. just depends on how 'original' you want the car to be!

Theres more work in fitting frontwings on the series one than the series 2 for sure!!
And i'd bet you would pay more than double for someont to replace both front wings and paint them, than it would cost to get them tack welded and smoothed
Have a word with ROSSCO, as this would be one of his specialities, and he lives on the essex/suffolk border (A12 ipswich) so probably not a million miles from you either
I can vouch for his top work

Cheers guys.
I'll get in touch with ROSSCO then, I'm sure he'll do a better job than our old mate Gav (Tosser!!) from Autodynamics.
Incidentally, what is the going rate for S1 wings?
