Default Nokia E-71 problem

My E-71 has suddenly stopped displaying the envelope in the main screen when I receive a text. Think I may have pressed a load of buttons when it was in my pocket

Anybody offay with these as I want the reminder putting back

I had this exact same problem with mine Steve. I did a search on the net and found out it could often be solved by deleting all your messages in your inbox, then turning the phone off and on again. If that doesn't work, I'd suggest backing your phone up using Nokia PC Suite and then doing a factory reset by keying in *#7370# - beware though, this will format your phone and remove everything from it so make sure you've backed up first! If none of that works, I'd suggest a firmware upgrade (again, back up first as this will delete everything from your phone), as I did that with mine the other week and it cured a number of little glitches which had been cropping up.

Before you do the reset, try re-installing the software using Nokia software updater as this won't cause you to loose everything you have on there.

Don't be tempted to download the OVI suite program from nokia, its a load of shit, just stick with the software updater program

Sorry to disagree mate, but it will in fact cause you to lose everything on there - I speak from bitter experience! Lol! That's why I suggested the reset before the upgrade, as either option will require you to back everything up first.

Strange that, I've never lost anything when performing a re-installation. And having an N96, i've done it a few times
