Been with Tradex for a few years now and you dont have to have a traders policy as such, they do a 'car enthusiasts policy' (which they have recently changed the name to a homefleet policy, you are insured for any car with the logbook in your name (including as soon as you sign a new owners part of the V5) up to a total value you specify, you can update the policy online when you buy or sell a new motor etc and you get all the usual stuff like legal and windscreen cover etc, I currently have 4 cars on mine (tho I can have as many as I want up to 30K worth) including the cossie (mods declared and must have a cat1 alarm) and an ST220 and I pay around £700 fully comp.

cheers steve
it would be mainly for 1 car to use everyday so logbook is in my name but the other 2 are cat d damaged repaired cars that the logbook isnt in my name as i'm wanting to sell them but still possibly use if need be,so the homefleet policy sounds fine

Thinking about it there has never had to be any proof that the logbooks are in my name and I think the exact words are that you must be the owner of the car (which of course is not neccessarily the registered keeper) so it shouldn't be a problem.
