maybe they wanted to set the record straight and didnt want their brake system blamed for a failure that had nothing to do with them.

Same as the exhaust system that got blamed for his lost of power few weeks before, when it actually turned out to be a spark plug problem. If i was the maker of the exhaust system i would want everyone to know that the failure was nothing to do with my system!

But does it not sound abit like in fighting, normally these companies stay out of the head lines and nothing more is said, maybe because it is such a high profile car/tea/driver and things will be said if it keeps breaking down

it does not say it in that report, but vettel specifically said that the brake disc exploded when interviewed during the race on sunday, so i'm not surprised that they want to set the record straight if that did not happen.

from what that report says the problem was, it is easy to see why he thought that though as that is what it probably felt like.
