Default map sensor question

on a map sensor there are 3 mounting lugs,
1 of these lugs has a metal contact that goes inside the sensor, obviously an earth.

how important is it?
mine has broken off and will not solder back together, no matter what i try i cant get a good connection.
is it now knackered? do i need to get a new one? or will its still be ok?

It will be fine

The earth isnt to power the map sensor, its purely for shielding.

As long as the sensor is mounted at least 12 inches away from the coil and leads, you will be fine

Yea it's about 12" above a wasted spark coilpack. And the wiring for the map sensor is shielded.
So cool hopefully nothing to worry about.
