High prices, but his work is very good and I would argue he knows more about the top end of YB tuning than anyone else does.

Not had one of his engines personally.

I think you are missing the subtle difference that he was building high comp engines for race fuel, and people like Harvey gibbs were saying low comp for road fuel.

More than one way to skin a cat anyway though, there is no definitive right and wrong answer on something like compression, its very dependant on the rest of the engine, JG's engines tend to be designed to work mainly at very high rpm from what ive seen, and that means you can get away with more comp than if you want loads of midrange torque, even on the same fuel.

The CR's you were quoting on here at the time were his race engines though mate, not the road ones which (well last I heard anyway) were running less compression than the race motors anyway.

Like I said though, its very application specific, if you are using very hot cams and lots of RPM you can get away with more CR as the VE is naturally lower anyway at higher RPM so the cylinder fill isnt as complete.

Anyway, this is going off topic, the lad wasnt asking about CR, so maybe it would be better if you start a thread to discuss those and we can chat there instead if it interests you.
