I think your partner naturally becomes your best friend. James knows more about me than anyone else and vice versa. Although we live five hours apart, he is still the person that I need to speak to first in any situation.

We talk about everything together, I have learnt loads from him and occansionally he listens to me moan on about stuff that obviously doesnt interest him but he listens anyway!!

He takes the piss out of me, makes me laugh and cry but I wouldnt change him for the world.

Must admit when i was single, if i met someone l liked, even if i really liked her, if she had no decent job or career prospects i used to finish seeing them etc as i didnt want to be the only earner in a relationship looking after the other! NOW im with lindsay and been married 6 years, if i could aford to id love for her to be able stay at home with the kids! I think what it was when i was single previous to being single i was with a right idle cow for four years who only worked now n then at various shit job....thought i was in love etc so it didnt matter, but once we split and i looked back i thought fuck that, not having that again!

I personally don't trust any women anymore. The ones I've gone out with in the past just led me on and then when something better came along, just gave me the brush off.

The last girl I went out with, I liked almost everything about her. She was good looking (in my opinion anyway), made me happy when I was with her, we got on really well. We were friends before so knew me very well.

Eventually it basically all went tits up as she was seeing someone else at the same time I found out later on.

At the time, my dad was in and out of hospital with various problems and seeing as I was the only family he had, I had to deal with everything myself. I found out after it all went sour with her that she couldn't 'deal with my baggage'. I never asked for any help at all from her and I never let it all affect anything between ourselves so I see that as a piss poor excuse as she never told me that it was an issue for her. If she had, I could have tried to do something but she didn't give me the chance.

The only thing I can think of is that she didn't really like me and wanted something better (I'm not exactly the best looking bloke in the world and don't have the best job on the planet!!) which she got with the other bloke.

So my answer to the question is that I don't look for anything in a partner as I simply don't trust anyone so would rather save myself the hassle and not bother!
