Default who is into transits?

ive been offered this
no t/t runs but needs a battery
have a few knocks and on 197k
what do you think its worth?
looks ok enough
tyres good, wet engine from front pass side but dunno what that could be
i could do with it for storing stuff in for a month then moting, maybe start an aerial company on the sly

just dunno what its worth as tannies on ebay etc are all over the place and never seem to sell propperly anyway (being ebay)

cheers
a grand is bein banded about but it would have an mot then (suposedly this could be pie in the sky as ist been there not far off a year so could be there for another)

i'll have 6 please

just need to get the door realigned as it's probably ground the wheel away, but other than that looks good and straight for it's age and mileage

has it still got the spare wheel?

its a very early that shape, i'm guessing its a 2.4 RWD, what model is it, if its only a 280 or 300 it won't carry bugger all, if its a 330 not bad, but you could do with it being a 350,

what power is it, probably a 90hp, but what ever, that shape is cheap at a grand, go for it,

could be a 75hp on an x reg. check for an intercooler,if it has one its a 90hp. check front to rear brake pipes as well, getting a few coming through now that are failing on the mot. also check for knocking flywheel and timing chain rattle on start up.
i can check what it is tomorrow at work.

Not necessarily. There's specialists who can replace the solenoid seal (that's what goes wrong usually) with the pump still on the car and you're looking at about 300 pounds there.

For example: http://www.dieselbob.co.uk/

Look at http://fordtransit.org/ for more information.

All 4 of our Transit service vans have above 250k on them. One has never even had the gearbox out so it's still on the original clutch!

the turbo's last alot longer the 2.4 compared to the 2.0 lol

water pipe around the back of the head that leaks on the bracket (ally pipe) which has been replaced with metal now

sideloading door handle snapping /front door handles not opening as tey need adjusting front out passenger seat belt frayed to shred's due to getting caught in the door catch

hardly anyone has mentioned rust!

seen quite a few new shape transits - like above - needing loads of welding come mot time.

personaly with no mot, that mileage and been standing a year i wouldn't want to pay no more than Ł600 tops.

We don't see many with rot issues going through our place to be honest. However we don't have as many to maintain that we once had.

We have a shit load of Renaults and Vauxhalls to maintain instead. Now if you love being left at the side of the road or having lights on your dash and things falling off/not working then they are a van for you!! Reliability is not one that goes hand in hand with them. If you're struggling as a garage, find a fleet of Masters or Movanos to maintain. Licence to print money....

nail on the head there lol

the earlier new shape transits seemed to rot fairly worse then newer ones we had a W reg one come in at my old work for a MoT with no inner rear arch's they were totally gone inner sill's were gone aswell like the smiley's do
