Default Some constructive comments on my next project please..

Hi guys im after a bit of advice actually, i know its inevitably my decision but its a dilemma to be honest, this is the situation,

I'm wanting another project, its going to be duel purpose, track car/ a few races in local championship, possibly a bit run what you brug, and wife fancys doing a track day or so in it.
Ive built 5/6 track race cars before and i'm a mechanic, with ability to weld, and paint to a certain extent paint wise.

I can also build from a basic road car up if i want to...

ive narrowed it down to 5 cars links below

1, https://passionford.com/forum/ford-r...med-shell.html

2, http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...=STRK:MEWAX:IT

3, https://passionford.com/forum/cars-f...ics-added.html

4, No link but its a motorsport escort shell with cage removed needing quite a lot of rebuild time like roof skin replacing etc.

5, https://passionford.com/forum/ford-r...er-spares.html

Some constuctive comments would be appreiciated please...

This needs to be road usable just for easyness but its not a daily driver its a toy pure and simple, budget wise i dont want anymore than 10k in it done to be honest.

thanks guys...

p.s it needs a cage, fire extinguishers and battery cut off minimum safety wise, so all projects will require this minimum..

Just added a 5th one sorry thought there was 5 on short list..

That Escort Cos shell looks very nice, the problem with building a Escort is simply the cost of the parts needed to build it into a good all rounder, saying that I can't see a Evo being that cheap to sort but then its a better setup out of the box.

The Focus is sold but I presume you know someone who has it for sale now ? either way same issue as the Escort, pricey parts to finish it off if not worse in comparison to the Escort as its nearly bare.

Out of the 3 it would be the Escort for me as it needs tidying and some nice bits bolting to it, the other 2 need a LOT of work to get to even that spec.

BTW its James who had the Hewland box from you

Hi James hows things mate good i hope, or better than when we last met anyway, hope things have made a turn for the better,

The thing is from being like 17 years old ive liked the escorts and still do, evo looks mean and good value though, but requires2k into it for cage and stuff..

ive just added the 5th one...

Looking a rally car shell tomorrow..

I'd go for the Evo personally, if you're willing to spend 10K total and are handy with a spanner, you'd have a more than capable track car at the end of it, not too extreme for your Mrs to have a few laps or whatever and should be pretty reliable so you're not under the bonnet every night.

That's a purely personal choice.

Things are better now thanks mate

Gearbox is in the car now just got to have it out paint the bay and fit the new engine

Back on topic anyway, thinking about as when we last spoke I got the impression its a full on competition car you wanted I think the Evo would be the better option, simply as it does not need a super trick gearbox or running gear and you get more for your money when it comes to the engines IMO

Did you sell that xe ?

Good glad as is well, XE wise i sold the 280bhp engine complete for Ł5500 2 months back..

Project wise its more compitition car than track day toy to be honest needs to have the scope of big power and being a brute of toy...

Well you know as well as anyone what these things can cost to build, neither are going to be cheap I guess and its hard to say which one would giev you the best overall package.

The Escort does look VERY nice though, I'd enjoy building that up as I'm sure you would !
