have to start a new forum up for these Q's..
Just a quick question. Just ordered new nokia phone as this 7250 is abit old hat now
Got some pics on it want I want to keep. Are the pics stored on the phone or sim? Ideally I’d like to transfer the pics from the 7250 to the new one. Damn if I have a clue how to do that, unless I send pict message but will cost a small fortune
got loads. Any ideas?
Also, is the 7250 unlocked to all networks worth anything as I will have no use for it.. will even throw in a vodaphone sim.. OZ network![Surprised](https://passionford.com/forum/images/smilies/bigcry.gif)
thanks

What phone are you thinking of getting?
Im not sure if the 7250 has a separate Memory card. If is does then the pics could be stored on either the phone or the card, depends on what is selected as the default. If it does have a card and the pics are on the phone, I should think they can be transferred onto the card, then the card put into the new phone.
Also, most Nokia phones either have Bluetooth or Infra-Red. The pics can be transferred this way. Although the 7250 perhaps hasn't got Bluetooth?? The later Nokia's such as the 7610 dont have Infra-Red!!! So that may not be an option.
If the pictures aren't private and you buy your phone from somewhere like Carphone Warehouse, Im sure they would transfer all the data for you.
Hope this helps in some way!!

You can sent most pics from most nokia phones as text messages using the SEND VIA MULTIMEDIA function on the phone...
You don't say what the new phone is tho
I know my one (6230) has a seperate MMC card in it - the phone stores the pics to the phone mem (as will all, it don't go to the SIM) and I copy em to the MMC card then take it out, plug it in my card reader on PC and upload em to a folder on PC. To send em to another phone that is picture enabled I just send either via blue tooth or multimedia text
You don't say what the new phone is tho

Wes - is it this phone?
![](http://ner.pl/im/nokia/6230_2_b.jpg)
Nokia 6230
And this is your old phone?
![](http://www.nokia.ru/f/phones/models/7250/7250-no-flash.jpg)
Nokia 7250
Right, I have a 6230 and my younger sister has a 7250.
The 6230 has a 32mb MMC (Multi Media Card) underneath the battery which is removeable. When you take a pic using the 6230 it is saved to the IMAGES file in the phone memory, under GALLERY. What I do to get the pic off the phone and onto the PC is use one of these;
![](http://shop.brando.com.hk/image/6in1cardreader.jpg)
It is a USB multi card reader (many many on ebay for penuts) which plugs into the USB and comes up on your PC as extra removeable storage drives (eg, on mine they come up as F: G: H: drives)
All I do is take a pic then using the phone functions move the photo from IMAGES to the MMC card, take the card out of phone, slot it in the MMC slot on the card reader, open that window on the PC and voila - all pics are there. YOu can also put pics and vids on your phone by just doing it in reverse...
The 7250 does not use removable storage like the 6230 - all pics vids etc go to the phones internal memory. The main prob my sister had was she had no way to get her pics off her phone and onto the pc so she could email them. I thought about getting her a bluetooth dongle but it appears her phone doesn't support bluetooth.
So I got her one of these;
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...e=STRK:MEWN:IT
Just install software onto PC, plug the lead into a USB at one end and phone in the other end and bus stuff to and from the phone and PC. Only two drawbacks (apart from it not being as quick as the card reader and chip set up) is 1 you have to connect bothe phone and usb then re-boot pc so it recognises they are both connected to each other when you wanna use it, and also you have to have the phone on and if you are swapping loads of stuff to and from it can cain the battery in the phone.
But if you have both a 6230 and a 7250 you can text the pics from your 7250 to your new 6230 by sending them as multimedia text messages, or just send via infrared which is probably quicker anyway.
I definitely reccomend getting a multicard reader/writer tho. I got one when I bought my digi cam as it came with out a lead, and when my bro got his cam (with lead) it was soooooo slow comparred to the card reader.
Have a look here for em;

As far as I know yes, the lead for the 7250 will allow you to transfer all types of files to and from the pc and phoine, so if you download some ringtones or movies to your harddrive then you can bus them to the phone using the lead (ebay link one), as all the lead is is a device for letting the phone and the PC talk to each other.
The car reader works in exactly the same way - it's just like sticking a floppy in your pc - you open up the A: drive and see a bunch of icons - same with the card reader...
Here's a screenshot of how the card reader appears on the PC;
![](https://img.photobucket.com/albums/0703/Thrush/cardreaderfiles.jpg)
On my particular one, F: is the slot for SmartMedia cards (that my FUji camera uses) G: is for CompactFlash I/II (I don't use) and H: is for MultiMediaCard (that the 6230 uses. You just click them to open like you would on A: (floppy) or C: (harddrive)
The Nokia software that comes on a driver disk with the cable for 725 is a bit different;
![](https://img.photobucket.com/albums/0703/Thrush/nokiapic.jpg)
YOu get an icon on the desktop (or in the start menu>programmes list) and click it and it brings up a programme with all your options and shit in there. I don't use it as it won't fit the 6230 (the cable I mean) so don't know an awful lot about it other than when I set it up for my sis and tried it out.
Hope this helps too

BTW, if you have video snippets on your PC and want to put em on your 6230, you need a video convertor as Nokia phones only read 3GP vid files. I donwloaded this one from the Nokia site and once you have registered on their site they send you a vervication number (via email) you need this to make it work - but it is still free ![Top](https://passionford.com/forum/images/smilies/smile011.gif)

I don't know if the Nokia software that comes with the 7250 cable already includes this tho, but I downloaded it before I bought the cable anyway. I have used it several times to convert MPEG video files to 3GP so they can be viewed on my phone - works great!

Games I ain't got a clue about as I don't bother with em (tho I'm gutted it ain't got snake on it
)
For wallpapers and stuff try this site www.jhonny.org/wap - kjc300 pointed this out to me when I ws asking how to get rid of the T-Mobile logo on the screen. If you go on the site using your phones WAP thing, enter id number 1, oplogo 1 , and that should sort you with a blank screen so that when you have a pic or whatever as wallpaper you don't have the operator logo across it...
They also do shit loads of wallpapers for yopur phone too - I would browse the site, then download it to your phone on your phones WAP - easiest way I found....
Course you can make your own wallpaper too - just need whatever pic you want resizing to 130x130 and saved as a jpeg
