I'm looking at getting an escort rs turbo s1 or s2.
Anything in particular I should watch out for or look for when viewing one?
Also what are common problems etc?
I am only 19 but I realise insurance is expensive but I've already sorted that lol.

Rust everywhere!

 

check all the sills, boot floor, check the vin n0 on the drivers side floor, check for lots of smoke, accident damage bottom slam panel, bottom end knocking, check for cream(oil), check all the windows to see if they match up to the reg, tell tall signs if its bin stolen, but the main thing is rust

 

Get the battery out it if you can and check for rust, then do it again, repeat untill happy.

Whip the boost pipe off if you can and see if the turbo is letting too much oil out, is the shaft wobbly?

check the boot floor and spare wheel well.

Are you getting everything with the car that was specified in the sale ad? the guy might have whipped some fancy bits off to sell seperate.

No matter what the seller says, take it for a setup, if you have the cash change the timing belt regardless.

And start it from cold.
