I still cant believe that donnington fell blatantly being used as a tactic to control silverstone, I always said the F1 would never end up there, and I cant believe they ever thought it would do, they should have properly nailed it down contractually before they started digging the place up.
Real shame
Was one of the best circuits in europe IMHO

I did some formula renault testing there some years ago... it is a great circuit to drive - what a shame ... as said should have never started digging the place up before it was sorted and the money was in the bank to do the work... not dig it up then go looking for backers.

To be fair if you look most of the track looks like it is there
But until you see it you never know

Donnington would never ever ever work for F1, First off there would be delaiys of weeks, getting into Donnington, Second the conidtion of the roads/outa track are far from poor.
The main problem is, they wanted to allow a one man to sort everything that fucked it up. I went to the event Save donnington to where our local car club was featured in our evening post. what he said on the stage, which was very quite, was they are trying to fund re-developments of the track, and the half built tunnel that was for the F1. 8mŁ on a fucking tunnel?! what the hell are they thinking.
I would hope to see the track re-opened.

when people say its not bernies fault..... didnt he have a mate who was something to do with donnington not getting permision or something to do with the loan
they got fucked over,, they was rushed to start work to get it up to standards as bernie didnt want to have the F1 at silverstone,,,, but then changed hes mind and blamed donnington for not being able to fund the F1 renovations

That's a real shame but Donington was miles behind Silverstone in terms of facilities. Let's hope they can drag it back up to the required standard, enjoyed many RS National days there.

Yeah the track will be the easiest bit to rescue but it's the facilities and spectating areas that still need a lot of work. Can't see many spectators wanting to stand in a muddy field to watch their racing.

Donington was and still is a shithole of a circuit compared to the rest of the countries tracks, was crap to drive, was crap to get in, was crap to spectate at, everything about it was shit, they should bulldoze the fookin lot and rebuid a proper track, but that willl never happen in this country, if it was a football stadium for the homeless imigrants then it would be started tomorow.

I agree the rest of the facilities were a bit pikey but still better than mallory or castle combe or llandow and on a par with croft etc
Its only really silverstone and brands that spring to mind as really being head and shoulders above donnington for facilities TBH

I was thinking the same. They need to get the track sorted first, then get some trackdays going at a Cheaper rate to attract more people in to gain some more funds. The infield can be sorted bit by bit, could allways make the infield a small drift track[like Oulton] or a rally X section to join onto the main track while its all dug up.
